Kristol has serious issues beyond Trump.

And I expected exactly (and predicted) this level of incompetence from Trump. He's a more brash Jimmy Carter. An outsider who people (in DC) don't even like. I said yesterday that it's harder for your opponent to slam your dick in the door if you don't rest it on the jamb.

The question in the OP is legitimate. Partially because Trump will one day have the power to surveil an incoming President and all his team and acquaintances. If we want to excuse this behavior now, we set another horrible precedent.

Flynn was a mole from the start... he knew he was being spied on and made contact on orders from Obama to destabilize the new administration. There are absolutely more in the bushes that need to be weeded out.

Time to let the ax fall on holdouts & appointments from the Muzzie's time in office. Vet the hell out of new appointments, clean house and keep the inner circle small.

Trump needs to operate under the assumption that no one in the "Establishment" is his friend.

That had to be a preemptive strike, no way Trump and his people are that stupid, if they are we are in big trouble.

If the IC is engaging in wrongful conduct directed at the Trump administration, Trump should be devoting his efforts to rebuilding a competent IC in a way that retains the very, very good work they've done in recent decades and purges political players.

I can't see that they way to do this is by attacking them en masse and ignoring their concerns, then when one of the concerns is shown accurate, attacking them further for helping to bring that to light.

I think Trump is approaching the job with seriousness (other than Twitter). I think he needs to quickly reform those around him so that the rest of the administration reflects the serious action he wants to take. He's got some good people in place. Add to that and get on with business. Stop sending KAC and Spicer out to take fricking absurd stances that dominate the news cycle so that you can 4D chess one over the media.

If that "private citizen" is receiving the President's intelligence briefings, yes. But for the millionth time, the ambassador was the one under surveillance.

I legitimately think there are those who will seek to undermine the administration from within (from careerists). But Trump pretending he doesn't need the IC is just idiotic, just as it was idiotic to ignore the loud yelling about Flynn.

Compare Flynn with the response to Mattis or Pompeo.

It was a preemptive strike. But I think they misunderestimated the dirt their opponents had on them. They didn't plan to discredit the IC knowing it has some damaging info. They do that because it's their default.

Set up a narrative about a group that's populist and anti-intellectual (the narrative, not the group). Any responses from those groups can then easily be defended, whether it's "fake news" or data or really anything. "That's exactly what we expected from them."

We used to say elections matter. We see now that they don't.

That is the goal of the Left -- to fill the FedGov bureaucracy with people who favor the Democrat world view. The bureaucracy is the Un elected Fourth Branch of FedGov.
The objective is to make change impossible if an Outsider takes the WH, because the bureaucracy will function as it did before the election.

When an Outsider like Trump takes the WH, it will be a long and difficult slog against the entrenched Establishment to make some changes.

So, it is a given that Democrats in and out of govt and the Propaganda Ministry of the Democrats known as the MSM are going to struggle mightily against the Outsider. The Outsider represents a threat to more promotions, more raises and more job opportunities for those near Wash DC who like to make a very prosperous living from FedGov employment.

There is a reason why some of the wealthiest counties in the USA surround Wash DC -- the FedGov bureaucracy is a huge Gravy Train and the Train Riders will strongly resist any and all attempts to halt the Gravy Train.

Military staffers who work in the Wash DC area occasionally throughout their military careers are VERY motivated to keep the Gravy Train going. They have a good chance to get hired on at FedGov after military retirement and eventually to collect TWO fat FedGov pensions -- one military and one for FedGov civilian work.

The law changed just over ten years ago -- NOW a person can take two full pensions -- military and FedGov civilian. Law used to be that you had to pick one or the other -- no "double-dipping".

So, you will see MANY military careerists who LOVE Big FedGov because they want to collect two fat FedGov pensions. These folks favor Democrats because of the monetary gain they will reap as FedGov keeps growing, spending, hiring and promoting.

If Obama authorized this, it would not surprise me. The dude is a hyper narcissist even for a politician. If you remember, when he first ran he wanted to fundamentally change this country.

You didn't think that he would leave quietly like a W or even a Bill Clinton....

Whether or not Trump is treasonous, we know now for a fact that the establishment is treasonous and anti-democratic. They are seemingly purposely sacrificing American democracy in order to save their place as the establishment. There is no going back from this. Things will never again be agreeable between left and right, and I'm not sure we will even have a democracy in 4 or 8 years.

What is illegal about spying on the Russian ambassador and known Russian intelligence agents?

Yeah, no one want to realize that the spying was on Russian spies, and Trump's people just got caught up in it when they started talking to the Russians.

It's a fricking tragic-comedy being played out with half the audience wearing blindfolds.

In all of this mess; many are saying this is The Political Assassination of Michael Flynn.

Some have said, the rest of Trumps cabinet are next, until he is done.

America's spies anonymously took down Michael Flynn. That is deeply worrying.

Look @ what Politico has headlined today...

KAC is the next target. Morning Joe is an obedient little prick, isn't he?

The whole entire political landscape is rotten to it's core and needs to be destroyed, from politician on both sides of the aisles, to the lobbyists, to the bankers, to the MSM that is complicit in every single bit of it. What you're seeing coming out of the woodwork is an enormous roach nest scurrying about trying to avoid being taken out. They're scared. That's the truth. Scared their system might be in real danger of being revealed and they're seen for the cock roaches they really are.

In my estimation, the most guilty and rotten are those in the media. They are the most dastardly of them all. We all know politicians left to their own devises and given the power willl become corrupted quite easily. That's why our founders tried very hard to limit government. What they didn't factor in was that we would become this corrupt, not just in government using the Constitution as toilet paper, but in the media being so corrupted as well when their whole existence is to provide oversight, of which they are worse than derelict in their duties in that regard, even worse, covering up that which suits their political agendas and focusing on that which stands against their political agendas, corrupting the public in the process.

What's the process for information gained from American citizens who are not the subject of a warrant when their conversations are captured by our Foreign Intelligence Services?

You said it loud and clear for all to hear. THIS is why the US electorate voted for Trump. THIS is why the Democrats and those who monetarily gain from Democrat power are fighting SO hard to destroy Trump.

You have great insight and you deserve many upvotes. You should expect fierce condemnation from the Cockroach-Supporters because they all really hate it when the light is turned on and the truth is revealed.
