Buying a heavy punching bag

I am looking to buy a 70 or 80 lb bag this weekend. I'm not an experienced boxer or anything, but I want to do some bag work and might take some classes at a gym. Any recommendations on where to buy a bag? Should I just go to a big box store like Dick's (heh) or is there a local place I can support?
I live in Baton Rouge.

I have I think a 40-50 lb Everlast bag at my dads I never use anymore.
Actually wish I had room for it here.
It's a rough heavy duty material and well put together. Wasn't much. You need to make sure you wrap your hands up because it will destroy your knuckles if not due to the material.
Eta: I'm actually thinking I remember getting it from a Lowe's for some reason fwiw

Are you right or left handed?

Just use a limp-dick cuck from the poli board. They're worthless and need to be put to use.

I just started hitting the bag again. Just follow some youtube videos for a while before spending money on a gym.

Red Stick Sports is the only place not named Academy or Dick's that I can think of, and I'm not sure they sell bags. I've also been thinking about doing some bag work for cardio because I can't run currently. I've got a couple of bum shoulders that are prone to popping out of place, so I'm not sure a bag would be good.

I used one of these for years. It held up extremely well for hanging up outside for so long. Plus, it's so long that its easy to practice kicks, too.

Bought one from walmart.com last year and it's pretty good. Just read reviews first.

Ringside is a good brand. Probably more pricey but better quality than Everlast. Go heavier than 70-80 pounds though. Just my opinion.

I bought a 80lb bag for my apt on an impulse buy. After punching it awhile I realized I needed some wrist support straps because my wrist were hurting. So I would put on my wrist support wraps, then my gloves, and then punch the bag maybe 20-30 times and take all the crap back off. I ended up giving the bag away to a friend years ago. Last week he said it was still sitting in his garage and he never used it. Wanted to know if I wanted it back.
