Probably Ozymandias. A lot of great ones already mentioned, but a few I didn't see:
Homicide:Life on the Street - Subway episode - Vincent D'Onofrio was outstanding in this
Fargo - Did You Do This? No, I Did It! - Bear and Simone's walk into the woods
Sons Of Anarchy - NS

The first time a TV show made me choke up IRL. Watching Green break after he gets on train (last scene)....done.
BTW, Bradley Whitford from West Wing plays the father of the baby. Watching him slowly realize it's going bad is impressive as well.
For us, the unwashed masses, please enlighten as to which show you are referring.
Thx!
He's talking about an ER episode called Love's Labor Lost.
Great show and one of the best episodes for sure.
But for ER, I've always been torn on my favorite episode. It was on for so long with so much character turnover, there kind of feels like multiple series within the overall series.
Be Still My Heart was a fantastic episode, when Lucy and Carter deal with the psych patient.
Fathers and Sons was also great television, although it is similar to Pine Barrens of this series as it is totally removed from the hospital setting and the overall series arc. But Ross and Green were so good and the subject matter was so poignant it made for a really great hour of television.
But I think the best, if I had to choose just one, would be Night Shift. This was the final episode for Omar Epps as Dr Gant. Holy shite, what an emotional episode showing the reality of the grind as life in residency, and how stressful it can be for those that feel in over their heads. Also shows how difficult it can be for attendings to figure out how to teach and inspire when the pressure of cleaning up after the mistakes of their students overwhelms them as well.
Would love to tackle a rewatch of ER at some point, especially the early years.

Clearly, I have a lot of TV to watch.
Somehow I skipped over the Sopranos...

Season 3, Episode 2... Ivan...did you see the sun rise this morning?
Archer did an homage to this that is itself fantastic television. "Placebo Effect."

The final moments of the episode alone with Tony sitting on the bed watching the light of death in the distance and Moby playing in the background is perhaps the best scene I've ever seen on TV.
this scene, along with a scene in the wire after randy's mom dies and he is yelling at Carver as he is walking away in the hospital are the 2 most poignant television scenes ever.
for anyone interested, the moby song in question is "when its cold id like to die"

No. That was Amazon Women in the Mood.

ER was a great show for many years. I'd like to watch it over again.

The MASH episode where Henry is going home but dies in a plane crash was very well done.
My fav is an episode that includes Col Flagg. It's title is "A Smattering of Intelligence". Just saw it again the other day!

I say it's the West Wing. "Two Cathedrals." Which ends with "Brothers in Arms" by Dire Straits in the background as President Bartlett walks in the rain about to announce his reelection campaign. TV magic.
Not sure why all the downvotes. The fact that an episode of this quality was on network television is amazing.
I like BB and GOT (a lot actually), but neither have ever produced powerful episodes on the level of WW, in my opinion.
