Who do these companies think they are "showing"?

It's mindboggling.

Too bad 84 Lumber is a privately held company. I would love to see their stock price at this point if they were publicly traded.

Blows their 'we didn't mean illegal immigration' bullshite story out of the water.

84Lumber's main customer demo is not hipster liberals on the coasts. Their marketing team, likely stocked with hipster coastal liberals who couldn't tell a 2x4 apart from a 1x6, likely had no idea.

84 Lumber is the winner here,

One of the greatest endings in Super Bowl history and people have already stopped talking about the game.

But you ain't stopped talking about this.

The only people who thought this ad was a good idea were those pushing an agenda...

How many mothers/ children are they endangering by encouraging to immigrate illegally through a desert where known drug and human trafficking..

Hopefully they do not believe there are aid stations along the way for water, food and rest on any given day...

The 84 piece shows a little girl (and her mother) risking her life to come to this country and even patching together a tiny American flag out of debris she finds along the way, and the first thing that comes to the minds of countless dipshits here is "ILLEGAL!" It, along with the very idea of Making America Great Again, shows contempt for this country and its neighbors.

I work in marketing

The people who produce ads like this are your typical left wing types who live in Los Angeles, no different from Hollywood producers

The thing is in order to win awards in the industry and put together a reel that will impress people you have to tack left and go SJW, just like winning awards like Oscars.

Marketing firms and corporations have two different agendas. The marketing firm here probably sold this corporation on this idea

This winter, the derps will be claiming the reduction of lumber sales is a direct result of their efforts.

It's a case of someone in marketing/corporate office who is completely out of touch with the field or customer base... i.e. the contractors. I suspect someone was trying to be smart and hired the expensive 3rd party group to get creative on the super bowl campaign and didn't get internal feedback in time (or at all) from their front line sales/customer service. Maybe they felt it was too late to change course after spending all that money and decision made F'it, roll with it, money spent. Horribly, horribly out of touch and a terrible ad campaign. Hard to see what's really going on since it's private company, but I'd be willing to bet this will make future marketing case histories. Contrary to what some think about any publicity being good, this is certainly not.
