Good Lord, these people are nuts.

?If her critics are to be believed, Education Secretary nominee Betsy DeVos is a danger to special education, could end public schooling and has plans that “will kill children.”
Think that’s hyperbole?
“That is not an exaggeration in any sense,” tweeted Vanity Fair film critic Richard Lawson, who fired off a series of tweets early Tuesday arguing that DeVos’ confirmation would be deadly for “queer and other at-risk kids” – because of DeVos’ support for voucher programs.
Meaning voucher programs will lead to more suicides. Betsy DeVos's policies will kill children. That is not an exaggeration in any sense.

One of the reasons I was ok with her being approved. The meltdown is awesome.

Well I've been critical of her nomination, but this is just ridiculous.
These people drown out legitimate criticisms.

Over the years, they have been overplaying their hands with extreme outcomes and no one is buying it anymore.

They're not ruined already?

They have bitched for years about the government mandated curriculum and NCLB and now they get a chance at a fresh start without the Feds in their business and they all fall apart.
I can't wait till good teachers find out they are in high demand at charter schools and see their salaries increase while the less than stellar ones are at the public school living off the minimum.

My 17 year old daughter told me yesterday that one of her teachers told her class that Devos is a bad choice because she is advocating "ending" public schools. She was echoing his argument. I took it as a teaching moment and asked what she knew about Devos. She knew nothing. I then spent about an hour with her researching her ideas and positions. She realized that her teacher was full of shite and I asked her what she thought would motivate her teacher to embellish the facts. She then learned about teachers unions and the fear they have of school choice.
It was really a good exercise for her to learn not to simply echo things she hears without doing some research on the facts.

Weird. What state do you live in? The teachers I know are opposed to DeVos because she basically bought her position and paid for all her confirmation votes.

Why would you say something so stupid? The woman doesn't need a job.
I am thankful we have somebody concerned about real, positive changes in education instead of union dues collections.

What is stupid? That she bought her confirmation votes? :lol :
Ok. You really need to learn how to articulate your points without insults. If you don't think that donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to the people responsible for approving her appointment qualifies as "buying confirmation votes," that's your prerogative. To call drawing that conclusion "stupid," is stupid.

Not sure why you keep bringing up Unions. We seem to be having 2 different conversations.

So what happened to the two lady Reps who voted against her? Was Devos' check not as big as the check those two got from the teacher's unions?

Why should I give a shite what this guy thinks?

It unbelievable the crap he post. Teacher unions spent over $50 million lobbying and he thinks DeVos paid Senators to get her job!!

The Department of Education was created by Jimmy Carter in 1979 as a payback to the teachers unions.
Our education standards and results have went down ever since.
Why do we need the DoE?
