HTC Vive is currently the best VR headset. It looks like it may get a major update soon though to the controllers and other accessories. Maybe even a VIve 2 with better screens.

HTC Vive is probably the best headset (but it's also the most expensive). PS VR has the best game support.

HTC vive is expensive AF, PlayStation is a solid option also that won't absolutely break the bank

Vive is the best tech that you will pay out the arse for if you don't have a pc that can support it and it is awesome.

PSVR has the best games so far and entry price. Lesser tech but it is the better gaming option atm.

Gen 2 of VR is going to be much better but we may not get there for a couple years

It would be the VIVE. But VR isn't for everyone, like myself. I enjoy gaming with something else being watched on the 2nd monitor while I do IRL stuff like cooking.

Is this really true though? I would say PS VR has the lowest barrier to entry, but there are a million VR games on Steam. Only some of those like EVE Valkyrie have also seen a PS VR release.

PS VR games are limited, it will not give you the best VR experience.

If you are wanting a true VR experience, Oculus and Vive is really the only way to go. Even with the playstation motion controllers, it's pretty much a half hearted effort into VR. Playstation is pretty much just playing games the standard way in 3D.

Vive/Oculus are more about bringing in the entire VR feel to gaming.

No. You can look around corners or over crates.

It is far more than the traditional 3-D.

Vive is probably the best but there is a lot of crap "experiences" more than tons of games.

Playstation probably is one of the best options at the moment simply because they are supporting VR with their big games.

So far there hasn't been tons of support from the big PC studios.

Long term, I think Vive will be best once they convince studios to start using the format. It is going to take the big games to get people interested and that isn't happening yet.

I wish it would. I've had the vive in my amazon cart twice and deleted it at the last second.

It's not far more and it's not close to what the Vive can do. I've played with both a lot. I own the Vive. Playstation is lacking severely if you want VR. If you want a taste of VR, it's decent there. With all the new accessories coming out, it's just going to blow the Playstation attempt out of the water.

There are a lot of good games out there for the Vive, but you are right there isn't a big developer game yet.

There is a cost factor heavily in favor of the playstation though. Going with the Vive is a costly adventure that looks like it might be a bad one if they release an updated version soon. Hell just the update in the controllers has me kicking myself right now.

I do wish Vive folks would give an update on when next gen might come out, but of course they want to sell inventory off so they probably won't mention next gen until it is nearing completion.

Like I said PlayStation is lacking in the tech but it also has arguebly the best two VR games right now in Batman and RE:7

It's significantly cheaper to get started and doesn't need a ~1,200 PC to use it.

The vice is the best option tech wise

The thing with the most potential thus far has been the Microsoft Hololens, but it's still very early in it's dev release (dev kits are $3k, consumer kits haven't even been whispered about yet). It's more of a "blended" or "merged" reality (uses real world dimensions in its interactivity) but has incredible potential.

Yes and no.

You won't use the hololens to play Battlefield or any game like that.

The hololens takes your actual environment and drops holographic images you can interact with. It has tons of business application but not as much game-play other than shooters that take place in your house, maybe strategy games. You see your location. It just drops images in the requested locations.

Not to say at some point it won't have some kickass game applications but it is even less baked at this point than VR and companies don't seem to be rushing to make tier 1 VR games other than PS.

Batman and RE:7

Not a fan of Batman and I think there are better options on Vive than it. Some of the best stuff isn't the easiest to install and play though, hacks to play other games that actually work quite well.

RE is good, may head to Vive and Oculus after exclusive period.
