Houston Locals - Where to Watch Super Bowl LI

I'm going to be driving down to Houston to take in Super Bowl weekend. Far too poor to shell out 3k for tickets so I was wondering where the best places to watch the game will be. It looks like a lot of places are taking the NYE approach and charging a large cover for a spot in their bar. I'm fine with that but am eager to also explore other options.
I know there are a good number of posters from Houston here so I wanted to see if there were any suggestions on where to watch the game.

Not sure of the exact location, but my gf's friend lives about halfway between the galleria and midtown so that's where we're crashing. But we'll be in the midtown area on Sunday.

I'll be at NRG because I'm not poor.

Couldn't tell ya. Not really a concern simply because we'll be sleeping there and that's about it.

Most bars will probably be a shite show.
That being said, I'd find one with a large patio...Kirby Ice House, Axelrad, Cottonwood come to mind.

But not too poor to pay travel expenses, food, and peak priced lodging?
Why do people travel to a city just to be in the same city as a big event with no intentions on attending the event for which they are traveling? Seems dumb to me. If you are doing so to "party" in the off-chance yall win... why not go to Atlanta? More parties and debauchery will happen there on Sunday than in Houston.

Mir lives in a penthouse condo on Kirby, see if he'll have you over.

If you aren't going to the game, wouldn't it be more fun to watch it in Atlanta with millions of your fellow fans?

I always have fun at Irish Cowboy, but it'll be packed I'm sure.

millions?!?!
Well over 5 million people live in the Atlanta metro, so I think it is safe to say that a good chunk of them are on the Falcons bandwagon.
Or you could just take it as a figure of speech and go about your day.

Falcons don't have fans.

cooking up gumbo from scratch. having 4-5 friends over to drink beer, eat gumbo, and watch the game outside next to the fire pit.
