I'm driving down to Houston from Dallas (3 hrs). We're staying with my gf's parents and a friend of hers so we won't be paying for lodging. We'll be paying for gas and food. At the absolute most probably a $500 weekend.

Kirby Ice House, Axelrad, Cottonwood come to mind.

Will check those out, thanks. Definitely would prefer a large patio as opposed to a stuffy bar.

Can't remember what the TV setup is like outside but 8th Wonder brewery in east downtown has a huge outdoor area and is a really cool place. Plus it's walking distance from the Convention Center and Discovery Green where everything will be going on. Luckys will also have the adjacent street reserved for a watch party with an enormous screen. Prob a lot of messicans at the later option.

Just glanced at their website and this looks to be a great option. They're hosting events all weekend and will be bringing in a large projection for the game.

Looks like someone got some sand in their vag... ease up there honcho...I asked a simple question. Stop swinging from his jock long enough to realize that he is stupid for spending that amount of money to go to Houston just to watch at some bar.

Fair enough... still seems silly to me. Plus wouldn't the future in laws and/or the friend have a good idea of a bar to watch?

Why do people travel to a city just to be in the same city as a big event with no intentions on attending the event for which they are traveling? Seems dumb to me.

You sure are a dickwad, in this case, SaturdayTraditions; the OP lives 3.5 hours away and wants to have a fun weekend and drop maybe $450 instead of $4,000. And he asked for advice.

Personally, I wouldn't do a trip like that... but I dislike the NFL and will be doing something I find more fun than a playoff game on TV.

But the OP wants to.. and I hope he has a blast!

I live 3 hours from where my favorite team is playing in the super bowl. The Super Bowl is a HUGE event for any city. It's not just going to be any gameday weekend. So this was a no brainer for me.

And her parents live close to an hour southeast of the city. They don't know. And her friend isn't that much of help.

So sorry I created a thread to let people toss around ideas. I'll be sure to consult you next time before posting.

A lot of butt-hurt people in this place today. I apologize for having an opinion. I forgot that if it isn't the same as everyone else's I must be an a-hole. I hope ole Timmy Brady fricks your team...then finds your GF and fricks her too.

I'm curious if there will be any huge screens set up in the Discovery Green (downtown Houston park) area to watch the game. There should be a lot of stuff going on there and might be a decent place to watch.

I'll hijack this thread to ask if anyone knows about the StubHub party taking place from 10-4 on SB Sunday. I won some free tickets but it's a little out of the way and debating whether to go. Apparently Jim Rome will be doing a show there along with other potential big names that they are not mentioning yet (which leads me to believe the names are not that big).

I would suggest you watch it AND stay for free at Owlfan86's 'house'.
Bad news is you will likely get roofied and raped.
Good news is your gf will not be touched.

Yea, living here I have had the option to wait. Pulled the trigger on a mid level (300s) sideline seat this morning for $3k. Prob a $6k seat two weeks ago.
