Agreed. Rough, that car company had everything...but there was no market for it. I have a naturally aspirated inline 6, manual transmission, hydraulic steering version from 2009 and it literally, on every detail except tech crushes what's offered now.

I agree, the 90's 7 series is light years ahead of al the 7 series since based on reliability and build design. I would like to torture whoever thought it was a good idea to run that stupid water pump pipe inside the engine like it is.
So much fail in the design, while the 1990's E38 7 series was like a masterpiece.
I guess only DIYers would notice, but damn, they just ruined so much.

BMW's are miserable and my car's faster by a full second. Every BMW I've had, including an M5, was a total piece of shite and borderline lemons.

I'll stick with my WRX, mod it post-warranty, and impress the ladies. #pimp

How many have you owned? And why would you continue buying a 'lemon' brand?

I'm a BMW guy. Drive one now but my next car will be a Mercedes.
Here's the deal with BMW vs Mercedes. BMW has always had better reliability, better design and performed better on the track, but Mercedes offered a more luxurious experience.
Mercedes has now broken even with BMW on the track, is very close in reliability and is still more luxurious. I also don't like the new design language from BMW. The M4 is an incredible car, but they lost me with the look. The 2017 AMG C63 S and the M4 are dead even on the track, but the AMG was better designed inside and out, so that's where I'd rather put my money. I guess that's why I don't get Corvette guy. If I'm going to pay $90k for a car, I want it to feel like a $90k car on the inside, along with the performance obviously.
The M5 is an incredible car but they only offer a sedan model. That's where the lose people to the AMG S63.

Had that with my first BMW. It was a 335i coupe. I ended up wiping it and going with Cobb.
Merc has better offerings with Brabus. Just my opinion.

3- M5, M6 (didn't learn my lesson), and bought my mom a 3 series because she loved them and it was cheap. All lasted less than 6 months before we got fed up with the BS.

Please tell me a sports car under 90 grand that will come close to the performance and reliaibility of a grand sport Corvette?
Corvette guys exist because you xan get an incredible performance car for thousands less than anything else.

M6.
And at the people who are comparing the M5 to the GTR and the Porsche. The M5 is a four door with superior comfort.
I would like to see a little more styling, but outside of that, it's an incredible ride.

Other than the ~2010 models of the GTR, there isn't one. I'm not disagreeing with you. It's just a different mindset. Corvettes kill it on the track. But the suspension, design, everything about it feels like you're running a track car. If your only concern is performance, you can by a 2005 Evo and push the boost to 1000 HP and drive around shitting on people in Corvettes and 911s. You can go out and buy a Hellcat and do the same thing.

M5 is an incredible car. If I had kids (and could still afford it with kids) I'd get an M5 because I'd need two functional back seats. I don't have any kids so I actually have money and I don't care about back seats.
That said, the 6 series, M or otherwise, is not a coupe substitute for the M5. The M5 is a much better car that has never had a coupe offering.
Maybe the M6 will get there, I think that's the goal anyway, like the M4 did with the M3, but it hasn't up to this point. It's just a heavy, bulky car not designed for any track anywhere. I do like the look of it though.
