Never been impressed with Cracker Barrel. Very bland food. Reminds me of just about every meal I have eaten in Nebraska.

Chicken fried chicken there is the best.

18 months ago, the first CB opened in Las Vegas.
A few months before that, Golden Corral opened their first location here.
Earlier this month, Raising Cane's opened in my neighborhood.
This Thursday, the first Chick Fil A's will open their doors in Vegas.
Operation Redneck is nearly complete in Las Vegas.
I guess that all we need now is a Shoney's. Are any of those still left?

It's called "comfort food" for a reason. Things like chicken fried chicken, pot roast or meatloaf with sides and biscuits and cornbread were staples of the American diet when mothers cooked meals with love and the family gathered around the table and enjoyed time together.
There was a time when lots of people knew how to prepare those kinds of meals. That's not the case anymore.
But that doesn't mean people don't want to eat those kinds of meals. So places like Cracker Barrel stay packed. Because people want to eat hot comfort food in a warm, country environment.
The food may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's consistent and the Cracker Barrel model is pretty smart - build right off the interstate to appeal to the folks from all over who want a hot meal that isn't fast food.
I enjoy it and it's one of the few places my five year old will willingly eat. So i'm a bit partial.
Also, breakfast all day is a huge plus.

Maybe that's my problem with the place, and I'm not trying to be sarcastic. Both my wife and I both know how to and do cook those kinds of meals. If I want that kind of food, then I'll cook it myself.
Maybe you've finally given me the explanation to why I don't appreciate the place.

Cracker Barrel is HORRRRRRIBLE....
Wife and I passed one Friday evening on way to the movies, and it was busting at the seams with customers. Absolutely packed. I do not get it. That place sucks except for novelty candy/soda items.

Not really a fan of their lunch/dinner. I mean it's ok, but I wouldn't stop at Cracker Barrel on purpose for it.
...now breakfast though....that's an entirely other matter.
