Despite how much this game might hurt for LSU fans I felt it deserved an article given how much it impacted college football. Feel free to contribute.

Pinkel took care of his Buddy Saban on that one. I believe he put Okie st 4th, and Bama 2nd.

And he was still part of Big12. lol

The Massey Composite (an average of 133 computers and polls) also had Alabama ahead of Oklahoma State.

Despite Oklahoma State throttling their rival No. 13 Oklahoma 44–10 in their final game of the regular season, it was not enough to vault them past Alabama in the BCS standings, as Alabama was controversially awarded the other berth in the BCS National Championship Game opposite of No. 1 LSU, who had already beaten them in the "Game of the Century" earlier that season, despite Oklahoma State finishing ahead of Alabama in the computer polls that compiled 1/3 of the BCS formula.

And here is an article for you.

Wasn't that the game that OU took a dive trying to help OSU reach the title game?

It's been over 5 years. That's 60 months. It is time to let it go.

How badly would you have beaten Oklahoma St. in the BCS title game that year?

I'm confident our secondary would've slowed down their air raid offense, plus the game would've been in the Superdome. We were just at a psychological disadvantage with the rematch, much like Florida State in 1996.

I was at this game and the atmosphere was unbelievable.

I understand that the tragedy gets mentioned a lot (as it should) but it certainly had no impact when OSU was up 24-7. That OSU team was flawed on the defensive side and it caught up with them.

One thing that gets lost is the Iowa State wasn't near perfect. Gave up a pick 6 and had several other turnovers. Iowa State's defense just kept them in the game until the OSU defense eventually caved in.

The fact that Iowa State didn't even play that well makes it hurt even more.

If you beat Oklahoma St. in the title game that year, is Miles still your coach?

Qb for Iowa state was Jared Barnett vs the listed Jim. I don't know how edits work on Wikipedia but I thought I'd clarify.

Probably, but that 2011 team would have finished with the most impressive resume in modern cfb. Seems worth it to still have Miles

It does suck that that team's incredible accomplishments are basically lost in history.

Lsu or Bama would have raped Okie St that year. It was unfortunate for LSU that Bama got a mulligan, but those were the 2 best teams that year, by far.
