The question is who would you rather on your team in their prime?
Barry bonds or mike trout?
My buddies given me trouble..

Bonds......which idiot picked Trout?

Trout hasn't hit his prime yet

We still don't know if this is peak trout or if he will actually hit another level in like 5 years
Really can't answer this question at all because we have never seen a player so good, so young, as trout and he very well may not have hit his peak yet

how old are you? The answer might give an insight why and how this is even a conversation. Juiced up Bonds was the Terminator of baseball. He never stopped... You could not get anything past him and he was being intentionally walked seemingly every other at bat. He was the most indimidating hitter I've ever seen.

Before Bonds head grew 2 sizes he was still a helluva player. He could hit, play the field, and was a beast running the bases.

Exactly
Bonds was just as good as Trout pre juice
Bonds was just as good as Trout pre juice

Bonds was the best player I've ever seen. Not only was he hitting homeruns at a record clip but he got on base a ton and stole a shitload of bases. Juiced or not he was incredible.

I just want to reiterate that trout is only 25 and has only completed 5 full seasons and it's likely we haven't seen his prime yet

Bonds hit his stride in his 7th year... look at his jump from his 6th season to 7th. OPS+ went from 160 to 204. His 1992/1993 years were monster. No doubt MVP both years.
Will Trout have a similar jump. First 6 seasons, Trout's numbers were better than Bonds' first 6 seasons. It was what Bonds did in his 7th and 8th seasons that Trout has to match.

Bonds. premier fielder at his position. the best left fielder while he was playing.
great hitter with Pittsburgh. great hitter with SF before drugs. after pulling hamstring in his mid 30's, trying to steal a base, he started PEDs.
before PEDs, he was a legit all star. 30 30 guy. speed and average and power.
after PED's, he was the best hitter I ever saw.
I started with Mickey Mantle and WIllie Mays. they had more power than he did before PEDs. He had more power than anyone, ever, after PEDs.

Bonds' prime from 2000-2004 is the greatest prime ever for any athlete, IMO. Ok, I'll limit to the Big 4, I'm sure a case for Phelps can be made, but I'm not familiar enough outside of the Big 4.
