Driver Licenses From Nine States Won’t Be Valid IDs for Domestic Flights in 2018
Beginning Jan. 22, 2018, travelers from nine states will no longer be able to travel with only their driver’s licenses.
Residents of Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Washington will have to use alternate ID forms (passport, military ID, or permanent resident card) to pass TSA security checkpoints—even for domestic travel.
On Thursday, the TSA began placing signage around airport security checkpoints to inform travelers of the new TSA rules going into effect in 2018.
The IDs from these nine states do not meet the federal government’s minimum security standards. And, according to the REAL ID Act of 2005, federal agencies (like the TSA) are prohibited from “accepting for certain purposes driver’s licenses and identification cards from states not meeting the Act’s minimum standards.”

Again?
Wasn't Louisiana on this list, what did they do to fix it?

Amazing how the government can require ID to prevent actions that could affect the lives of thousands (terrorism), but it's racist to require ID to prevent actions that could affect the lives of millions (voter fraud).

This has been delayed several times by DHS already. I would not be shocked if it happens again.

Doesn't California give drivers licenses to undocumented residents? How does the new drivers license help with security at airports if that is so?

I thought they were too.
I guess JBE succumbed to Fedgov

I would absolutely love to know what those standards are.
But more than that, I'd love to know which private companies manufacture the equipment which creates these "REAL ID" cards and any involvement they made have had in the creation of the REAL ID Act of 2005.

Hopefully only REAL IDs will be accepted in voting booths nationwide in the future.

Bingo, if the government can require this level of ID to get on a plane then they can require this same type ID to legally vote.

Then in theory they shouldn't work as DL's either. Sounds like a moneygrab

they give a license to anyone with a pulse that shows up and do zero vetting - illegal aliens get licensed there with ease...

Got rid of Bobby Jindal. Seriously. He had a hard on to stop LA from complying with the Real ID Act. He saw it as some nefarious federal encroachment.
Edwards came in and signed a bill so our licenses can comply. LINK
