You can't compare a 92' Viking to a 33' CC

Not many sportfishers cruise at 20 knots, the 92 Viking can cruise over 30 knots. And if you are planning on just fishing one place all the time then a center console is probably best for that. but if you want to take your boat to more than one place then a sportfisher is nice. you can go to south florida, gulf coast, Bahamas, Bermuda, Carolinas, etc and have a boat and a place to stay.

Supposedly, Freeman will have a fisharound model if the 42 that has a small cabin...best of both worlds.

ny idea on the fuel capacity of the LR? 700 gallons or so?
The Double J 42 will hold 800. I use to fish with him. It will be nice not to have 5 drums strapped to the boat.
My pick:42 prowler cat

I've been following the prowler builds on tht
Buddy's dad has one being built. They're badass

Same here. Ive been following the 36' build as well. It's addicting just following the build, I couldn't imagine owning one.

I wasn't, he said that a 50+ sport fisher would cruise at 20 knots. I used a 92 Viking as an example that he was wrong. there aren't any sport fishers that have been made in the last 20 years that cruise at just 20 knots.

So maybe it can but hell you could buy a fleet of freemans equipped with 7 marines for the price of a 92' sport fisher. Hell the 72 viking is north of $2 million new. I haven't fished off of a new sport fisher as all the ones i have been able to fish from are from the late 80's early 90's with detroits for power. Nothing like burning 500 gallons of diesel with a 20 knt cruise for an over nighter 50 miles off the mouth of the river. We had the boat for free only needed to pay fuel..... The bill was over $2,000

damn dude, all I was saying is that he was wrong about a 20 knot cruise. I should have used a 52 Viking as an example instead of everyone getting their panties in a wad about the 92.

Brother, a new 66' Viking is pushing $5M now completely rigged. You would have to really like burning money to buy a new sport fish. Don't get me wrong, they are great...but I'd rather have $5M in land in the Delta that produces income and appreciates in value.
Interestingly, I have a friend that fishes South Florida sailfish tourneys that says due to their speed, large center consoles rule those events now.
Conversely, northern gulf billfish tourneys are ruled by sportfishers.
I suppose it is whatever floats your boat.

If it makes you feel any better at all no one in this thread has claimed to own one themselves either.

In this case, I'd rather know someone with one than own one.
Those frickers are money pits for maintainence, but then again if you can afford a $500000 boat you aren't really worried about the extra costs I guess

My buddy's dad just got the 37 with quad 300s.
It's the most formidable offshore fishing machine I've ever fished on.

0 to 60 in about 11 seconds....not bad for a 15,000 lb fishing boat.
Posted on 1/20/17 at 2:40 pm to CP3
It's amazing how many boats there are in this country that cost at least 250k.
