Either get a nice mechanical Speed Queen, or get the cheapest one you can find (cheaper ones tend to last longer). They will both be more reliable and cost efficient in the long run

Whirlpool appliances and Fridgedaire refrigerators and freezers. Nothing lasts anymore and anyone can repair these brands. Must good repairmen have the most common parts with them

Looking at LG direct drive top load with a steam cycle. It's 5.7 cubic feet so will hold a lot of clothes and I have a big family. Only sticking point is $1200. Anyone have experience with LG appliances? I've always owned Whirlpool in the past.

I recommend Samsung washing machines. I don't know anyone that's having any problems with theirs.

They should have a large inventory with cheap prices also.

I recently purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio top load. I love it and would never buy another front load.

cad says: page napoleon and buy a refurb direct drive whirlpool from the 90s from him.

OT says: buy $1000 speed queen which is...the same as the refurb whirlpool from the 90s napoleon can sell you at a fraction of the cost.

or go on craigslist and find a set on your own. you'll do just about as well.

Whoa, I'm not selling anything.

I heard they are fixing to stop production of the manual switch models this year.

yeah but their electronics are great too. They don't care about efficiency and that lets them make a better product.

I actually personally use LG washer and dryer (built my laundry room to only fit front loaders before I got into appliance repair and they are my favorite front loaders(plus I got them for free). All dryers are basically the same. I never had any complaints about dryers other than GE's stupid plastic bearings.
LG washers only really issue is the speed sensor seems to fail after a few years, but it's a crazy cheap part. The one good thing I will say of Samsung and LG is that they have really cheap repair parts.

LGs are also prone to control failure. Not all that commonly but the issue is, if a relay fails, you can't repair the board like you can on other models because the encase the entire board in a resin.

I have no negatives to say about LG really.

Front load wash just as well as any agitatorless top load, but yes machines with an agitator wash better.

RE: Samsungs
If you don't have any problems, that's good. If you do their customer service is crap, and the technician has to be certified on Samsung. I would recommend LG above Samsung and the 1501 models are highly rated.

Ended up going with Maytag 4.7 cf top load with the agitator. The 5 yr unlimited warranty on parts and labor sealed the deal as it was better than anything else I found.

took my buddy over to Brandons a few weekends ago. He got the Washer and electric Drier($699) . He told his wife that she'll have to get over the appearance. She did a load of 7 big new towels and she fell in love with them. Said after 25 minutes the towels were completely dry. When my drier goes i'll be getting the matching Speed Queen to my washer. Loved how you can pop the lower panel off the drier to completely access the duct work .
