For some people it's great, we love it because the rebate just about pays for the next years membership. We by all of our gasoline there, I don't know what lines someone mentioned, in BR I've never waited, the meats are excellent, all of the Kirkland brands are good.
The employees are well paid with great benefits, so service is excellent, even during rush period the lines move fast and it's easy get help finding stuff.
If it's not conveniently located for you, maybe not a good deal, but we stop in for a roasted chicken and a few staples all the time.

I get my money's worth, and I have a two person household. If you have the room to store bulk paper goods, it is way cheaper than (walmart, target, etc) on paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, dishwashing detergent, etc. Milk, eggs, Fage yogurt, quality cheese (Coastal aged cheddar), dry cured salami, organic boneless/skinless chicken thighs, almond butter...those are some of my most purchased items.
I also find it very useful for parties & events: I can buy large quantities of chips, dips, fruit, liquor, cheeses at a very reduced price compared to ordinary grocery stores. If you need to entertain maximum people on a minimum budget, Costco is the place to go.

How does it compare to Amazon prime in terms of savings? I don't qualify for the student discount anymore, and $99 for prime seems a little steep.

So is the meat all it's cracked up to be? Not only in terms of savings but also quality and variety?
I have both Sam's and Costco, Sam's meat is much better, at least in Lafayette.

Even for small gatherings. I got a shrimp cocktail for $11.99 that was great for a party.

You don't need a membership to eat at the NOLA Costco/

I suggest always checking the expiration date at Costco.
I've seen bread that expires in 2 days, and yogurt that was expired.
I find a lot of their items seem really close to expiration. Others are fine, but it's worth double checking.
I love how they sell rotisserie chicken meat deboned already. It's good for chicken salad or other dishes.

I keep them at the house and can't justify buying the real thing anymore. But, only two flavors at Costco.

Costco is worth just for their skirt and hangar steaks. Haven't found a better place in NOLA including higher end grocers and meat markets

I've had two cars that get lower gas mileage (by a mile or two) with Costco gas. One thing I do use pretty consistently with my Costco membership--car rentals. They only use name brand (Alamo/Avis/budget) and are often cheaper or same price as the sketchy rental places.
The turkey sammich and Caesar salad combo for $6.99 isn't a bad deal. And I do go there for TP/garbage bags/contact solution/vitamins.
You do have to watch that you don't get addicted to some item they carry because they do switch out products a good bit.
Amazon prime's groceries always seem way more expensive than if I just carried my happy arse to the store. And now larger local stores are starting grocery pick-up and delivery.

We've hardly touched in the best section in the store- wine and liquor. They have a nice wine section with a good variety of wines at various price points. Some you are not likely to see many other places, and most cheaper than other outlets, or at worst about the same.
Their liquor is also competitively priced for name brands. The selection is limited by nature of the type of store it is, but they have some nice finds available. Where they shine, imo, is the Kirkland branded liquor. What I've had is been good quality at excellent prices. Example- one of the Kirkland vodkas is basically re-branded Grey Goose. Now I know that GG isn't the be-all end-all of vodka, but when it is substantially cheaper than usual, then for me it's a no-brainer.
The beer selection is limited. Occasionally they will sell a Kirkland branded mixed case. Some of it is good, some nit so good. I'm much less enamored of the beer selection than wine and spirits. Unless you just want a couple of basic cases if something for a party. Then you might be in luck.

Do you have some kind of proof of this? I see this mentioned in every Costco thread on here

Just got a reward voucher in the mail from them. Apparently you get 2% rewards on purchases.

Is that an annual thing they send out?
