I am looking for a bait-casting reel for throwing spinner baits and buzz baits, my budget is $150-$200. I have heard some bad reviews for the shimano curado. Any good recommendations?

TIA

I got about $400 worth of tackle warehouse gift cards for christmas this year and bought the new Lew's Custom Pro Speed Spool. It was $260.

Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice reel. However, I still maintain that the best reels you can buy in the $150-$200 range are the Pflueger Patriarchs. I have both the Patriarch and Patriarch XT's and never paid more than $175 for any of them. They are every bit of the reel this $260 Lews reel is.

Quantum Smoke....I have 4 of them and they are all flawless. Ultra smooth casting with braid or floro.

Fishing 13 Concept A. I used to have all Shimanos until I bought one of these. Its the first one I pick up now.

I have had more trouble with my Citicas in a salt environment. I have been slowly trying to phase them out.

I have a Shimano Curado that I like and haven't had any problems out of. I also have a 13 Fishing Concept A and a Concept C which are both close to this price range and I love them both.

Certain models of the Curado are viewed as better than others. The green E series Curados are pretty highly coveted and from what I understand those same reels are now the Chronarch E series with a white/black paint job, but if I'm not mistaken those are no longer available new so you'd have to buy used or hope to find someone who has one NIB. People seemed to hate the G series and I haven't heard much on the newer models though. I loved the 201E7 Curado I had.

Shameless brag, last week I replaced all my reels with Shimano Antares HG reels.

I got a JDM Antares. Only reel to outshine my Curado E7.

All my buddies who have thrown it want one now.

Paid $200 for mine used.

my son got this last year. It's alright. Well below the Curado E7 and the JDM Antares. I would put it on par with the Abu Revo Inshore.

I speck fish DeCade, Delacroix, Shell Beach, etc. about a dozen times a year. No problems at all.

Pretty common issue for several Shimano models.

Supposedly, Shimano got it fixed in their recent models.

I had all Citicas for the longest time until I got a Patriarch (back when they were shiny silver). All Pflueger and Lews now.

No love for the Shimano Calcutta?

Mine is 22 years old and fishes saltwater and is still a great reel...

Lews BB1, Lews Super Duty, Daiwa Tatula, Shimano Citica or Curado, or Abu Garcia Revo STX.

Can't go wrong with any of those. And there's quite a few other Lews reels in that price range that are also great.

I have the E5,E7,Revo Inshore,JDM Antares and my son has the Concept 13.

And he has it on a Ducket rod. It's set up perfect but it's just not a very good reel compared to the 2 I mentioned.

You are talking about the old green E series Curado right because the ones made after that were trash.
