LSU
Pos. rank: 1

As a collective unit, no offensive line performed better than that of the LSU Tigers in 2016. The group finished atop our offensive line metric, largely because all three starting interior players had overall grades of at least 74.5. The Tigers were led by C Ethan Pocic, whose overall grade of 82.7 was bolstered by his pass-blocking performance that saw him yield just 11 total pressures with no sacks or hits allowed. LG Will Clapp was also outstanding in pass protection, as he was responsible for just nine total pressures, with two hits and no sacks. RG Josh Boutte was the only member of the interior trio to give up a sack, but his lone sack charged to him was accompanied by just seven other pressures.

Sorry but they sucked against Wisconsin, Florida, and of course Bama.

Another example of why PFFs college rankings should not be taken as gospel truth. Their NFL ratings are pretty good but their college ratings have a lot of issues.

They rated Debo like the worst linebacker in college last year and said he shouldn't have been drafted. He went in 2nd round and is currently a DROY candidate.

Notice they go on and on about the 3 interior players and never once mention Teheuma on the outside or Malone. They were real weaklinks out on the edges.

This stat is skewed by about a dozen really long runs against some bad defensive lines.

We also ran the ball well against a lot of teams who knew we were going to run.

I don't care what their stupid algorithm is saying I watched every game this year and our o line was sub par at best. Against any sort of decent DLINE they crumbled in pass protection and run blocking.

Did they watch any game we loss? OL was dominated in WISC, BAMA and UF game....and should have played better vs AUB. Better OL play (run blocking/pass protection) = more wins in 2016, period. What a farce.

It wasn't the best against Bama.

Of course, Bama's D-Line makes a lot of O-Lines look mediocre.

The SEC office has more credibility than PFF.

Naa. Not gonna get pissed about a flawed ratings system. The OL was dominant at times, weak at times. Mostly above average play.

Look, I'm the biggest homer there is, but one of the best OL's in college football? C'mon Man!

back to the tackles; all it takes is one not to 'grade out high' per series and your behind the chains and stalling drives. Have to be high across the board with no holes to prevent that.

Everybody always blames the offensive line, but the offensive line wasn't the problem, the problem was the unimaginative Les Miles' antiquated and very predictable offense.
