Do any parents out there wish they didn't have kids?

My fiance and I are about to tie the knot and we had a pretty good talk about not having kids. We first had this talk about 3 years ago (been together for 5 years now) and nothing has changed. We both are doing well financially but our careers require a lot of time and we'd like to experience the joys of life when not working.
Reasons not to:
1) they seem like a lot of work
2) there is always that chance they grow up to be worthless shitheads (no matter how well you raise them)
3) I'd like to enjoy the finer things in life
4) we see worthless shitty kids all over the place with their fat, worn-down, depressed parents and I don't want to be that

You are a pessimist aren't you?

Several times a day but usually just for a couple seconds.

I'm sure there are plenty of shitty parents out there that think this

nurp but go about it the smart way....be financially stable, have a house, have a good support system around you before you plant the seed.
If that means you cant have kids until youre 35+ then so be it. It is a lot more work and stress if you arent stable when you have kids.

What kind of fricked up question is this??
Maybe my view on this matter is a little tainted - I watched my cousin (who is my age) lose his fiancé and his three year old in a car accident.. so everytime things get rough or I can't do something that I would normally do, I think about him... he'd do anything to have his son back (and his fiancé too). There's nothing in this world that would ever make me say I wish I didn't have my child ,and believe me, my life is far from perfect
TKE nailed it

Solid advice that gets ignored way too much

I bet Paul Ryan does right now.

Never! They might be tough at times and you lose freedoms but the enjoyment of watching them grow and the unconditional love you have for them outweighs any negatives.

I downvote all of your posts

Having a kid will always be a person's biggest regret in life. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying to you or themselves.

Your parents couldn't agree more.

Not really. Not as much as you think they are if you listen to whining stay at home Moms that try to make their life sound more difficult than it is.

This is a legit reason not to have kids. I love them to death and wouldn't change anything, but damn they're expensive. The one reason why I would advise anyone not having kids is money. If you can't provide for them, don't have them. It's not fair to them or you. If you want an example of how expensive, I pay over 10K a year just for dance/cheer and they're not in junior high yet. When they get to high school, it could cost me as much as 28K just for school cheer/dance, not counting actual lessons.

Only at those times when i wish i had more disposable income and time.

I've got 4 under 10 years old. Though I do not wish I didn't have them there are moments I miss days of doing what I want to do. I just want some silence. Then my wife takes them to see family for a few days. While the first night is pretty dang nice, the second is less so, by the third night I'm a mess and long for the chaos to return. The best thing about me are those 4 kids. You can't really understand it until you are there.

Good advice. There's always the chance that things change later after we've traveled more and gotten to experience life. But what if we hit 35 (or some later age) and just decide kids aren't for us?

Not much more joyful than having a kid.
