People with CC Permits who don't carry

Just curious to know why you don't carry after going through the hassle of becoming certified.
My greatest fear would be that I would find myself in a situation where I needed my weapon and did not have it, rendering me helpless. I would never forgive myself.
What ya got?

this probably happens most often with people that can't or don't carry at work. If you don't carry to and from work there's not many other situations when you would carry.
Some people may just want to avoid the background check when buying a gun as well.

Traveling with a gun in the car was my primary motivation.

Same here, Barf. If you travel through Alabama, you need to have a CCL in order to travel with a loaded pistol.

Does Alabama not grant reciprocity to Louisiana folks with permits? They accept Florida's.

My understanding is that they do.

Such a pain in the arse to travel through Alabama with a pistol.

Sometimes has to do with everyday commute.....ie jobs that dictate military bases, schools etc....

I work in a refinery, so can't have pistol on company property. At night, I go to too many bars. The only time I carry is when I'm running errands during the day and when I go to the camp.

When I'm not working, I'm drinking.
When I'm not doing either, I'll carry

No it's not. If you have no CC permit, the gun has to be unloaded and put in glove box or console, then ammo has to be in a separate compartment. If you have a permit, just give it to them with your driver's license if you get pulled over. If you carry a permit, it is listed when they run your driver's license. So they know you are likely carrying. Just be polite and keep your hands where they can see them and don't make sudden movements.

I work in various hospitals, and changing into scrubs to and from is a hassel, and I've had a car broken into before so I'm hypersensitive about leaving one of my valued possessions in my car. Otherwise, I don't go into movies, etc w/o it.

Different folks have different reasons. But from what I see in my classes, there are very few people who carry EDNDO (every day, no day off).
I'd estimate that the % of permit holders who carry "all the time" (everywhere that's not prohibited) is well under 5% --> probably close to 1-2%.

I'm the opposite
I carry and don't have a permit
I carry and don't have a permit

Wow. My husband and I carry all day every day. This explains that when trouble breaks out, no one is equipped to diffuse the situation and innocent people die. That sucks.

I can't keep my firearm in my car at work

I don't carry often but when I do I like to know I'm legal.

Yep. Anyone that went through the class should know this. If you are carrying, own a CCL and stopped by a LEO, you are required to give them your CCL and inform them that you are carrying. They can revoke your CCL if you don't do this.
I got pulled over this year in Grand Isle for the first time after having my CCL since 2013. I gave him my CCL with my drivers license and he never even said a word about it or asked about my gun,but he sure as frick took 30-40 mins to write me a ticket at 8am while I was hungover and trying to get home.

I work at a bank that doesn't allow carrying, and I drink a bit when I'm off.
I let mine expire and did not renew, but keep a loaded revolver ready in the truck and house.
