Years ago I was in a hole in the wall bar in Houma with my father in law, I had a visor on. One of his buddies called it a topless hat

You mean shorts like when electricity can't find it's way all the around circuit?

Or pants that aren't long?

Or a fish that isn't long enough to legal to throw in the icebox?

Or maybe when eat something that causes you to visit the restroom more than your normal frequency?

I'm confused as to what you're asking...

Why did you limit it to coonasses? I ain't a coonass nor are most of my friends and we all call them short pants.

Why? Because they are pants and they are short, idiot.

So what do idiots like you call them?

Just don't call them trousers unless you're ready to pull them up to your nipples.

I don't think the "short pants" and "long pants" is a cajun thing. I grew up in Alabama, and that's how I referred to them. I've got a buddy from Tucker, GA who does the same. I had never even realized it until my wife (not from the south, no pics) pointed it out.

My dad calls them short pants. I didn't realize this was widespread.

I did some contract work in Jersey years ago. Old school Italians called them the same thing.
