When would Canada join the staff?

Pitt is playing in a bowl game. Would he join after the bowl game? Before? Our last 3 OC hires were already on the staff or currently unemployed, so I don't remember exactly how this works.

Unless the game has championship implications, I think these coaches usually get started in the new gig. Any recruiting help he can give actually helps HIM.

I think he would probably coach the Pitt bowl game. Ensminger is going to call the Bowl game anyway.
I'd imagine he will be touching base with the recruits while he is in Pitt.

Why would he wait till after the bowl game? What benefit does that give for LSU or Pitt?

Hope so, as I'd like to watch the Pitt game and watch him calling plays and such.

IDK, if he's already signed with another team I would think Pitt would want to move on immediately. Elevate one of their position coaches to interim OC.

Pretty sure that's not the case since it is in the "Dead Period" unless they call him

He can recruit and prepare that team at the same time if Pitt even wants him there.
Didn't the dead period start anyway where the only contact is by phone?

Why would you rather him not working with LSU for 15 practices and putting in a portion of his system with the guys he will be coaching next season?

Exactly. LSU needs the new OC asap For bowl practices. Would've been nice to have him during recruiting,if nothing else than to reassure offensive recruits. I have no idea what benefit it could be to wait.

There is no way Pitt wants him coaching their team.

He can't recruit if under contract at Pitt. And won't coach bowl while under contract at LSU.

Kirby did it.. I guess it has to be ok'd by both parties. But I believe Kirby was wkin at uga some and also getting ready for playoffs

I don't recall him recruiting... and maybe didn't sign the GA contract at that point. I am sure Chavis can let us know for sure. Heh

That was a little different because it was a promotion for Kirby. I think this situation would be a little more challenging.
