Yes knew him very well. Was an outstanding person. Was CHS Man of the Year last year. Honestly one of the last people on earth I would have thought this would happen to.....RIP man.

I realized this wasn't the best time to make stereotypical jokes about catholic high.

On a more serious note, this tragedy is a good example of how anyone you know could be suffering from depression and/or suicidal thoughts regardless of how "great" there life seems on the outside.

Does anyone know why he felt he needed to do something so permanent? Just can't understand why someone thinks that is the answer.

Only reason CHS was used was because there are lots of CHS grads that post on here. Thought someone would know about it on TD

It seems like the whole CHS community is reeling from this. It's just so sad that someone with that much potential was dealing with that much depression and sadness about his life. I can remember being 18-20 and having multiple friends/acquaintances/former classmates who committed suicide. That's a very crucial time for the suicide-minded. I hope people remember that a lot of his family and friends are likely to read this thread and choose to display a little more compassion and a little less judgement. Deepest condolences to his family and friends.

RIP, young man.

I heard about it, though I heard the young man was a freshman at LSU. Heard other details which only go to underscore the immense inexplicable maddening tragedy of suicide.

But why is he a CHS grad , If he went to any other high school , it would read LSU student, just typical of the pseudo-elitism that goes along with CHS

Heart felt condolences to the family

Graduates of high schools that require more character from their students than most high schools (CHS, Jesuit, etc.) tend to act more as a family after graduation.

He also graduated in the last couple of years so it is very relevant.

This isn't the place for you to get upset about this.

Whatever pain they are in overshadows rational thought. He wasn't thinking clearly at all, just how to end his suffering, whatever that was.

My cousin killed herself 5 years ago. She was 39. She left behind a 12 year old, a 10 year old and a 2 year old. She was a good actress because no one ever picked up on her issues. Not every smiling face is happy on the inside.

It's mind boggling and no one will ever understand.

Edited to add: She had twin sisters a year younger than her. Her parents and sisters are still reeling from her self-inflicted death. I don't think they'll ever get over it.
