Yeah it was called the BCS

The BCS also provided 2011 and if the BCS was used in 2014, the title game would have been Bama playing FSU.

In other words, the BCS is not without flaw like some here think.

Somewhat like the BCS, BCS had something's right but it could use some tweaking to be more objective

But it is certainly was more transparent and a better option for picking playoff teams

Just because you have the BCS or a similar type system does not mean you can't have a playoff

No they didn't.

Nope, that happened before the teams were selected.

Your lack of objectivity is astounding.

I'm okay with that. I'm just used to some BCS supporters also hating the playoffs on here

At the time the committee said the fact that the Big 12 didn't have a conference championship was the reason TCU/Baylor was left out. Now you have a different committee. I think it was easier leaving PSU out than leaving Washington out. You leave PSU out, oh well Big 10 still has a dog in the race. You leave Washington out then Pac 12 is raising all kinds of hell and we are closer to a 6 or 8 team playoff. Which , for some reason, the powers that be, don't want. Good luck sticking to 4 teams when the Big 12 implodes and the majority of thoae teams are added to the power 4.

I personally lean to a system where as soon as conference championship games are finished we know who is in the top 4 because there is a transparent formula and we don't have to wait on pins and needles for a room full of hand selected people to tell us who it is

What objective measure would you like to use?

Massey Composite has TCU 3rd, OSU 4th. TCU also has a lower standard deviation.

OSU fans are just making things up as they go. Probably doing a bit of trolling.

Methinks he wants to use the "logo on the helmet" test.

Correct, because they were dealing with comparable teams. That's not the case this year.

All things considered, the playoff is still giving Alabama which everyone would agree is the regular season best team, the best chance to win the ncg so it is still doing something right.

I still prefer a system that leads to the best team winning it all over some multi team playoff.

The Committee changed its parameters: T/F

The committee had different parameters in this year's selection alone

ETA: tOSU gets in because SoS, OOC and conf championship doesn't matter.

Then the rep turned right around and talked about how Washington got in because they won nearly all of their games and won their conference. (even though their SoS and OOC was weak as frick.)

Two VERY diff criteria for picking 2 diff teams in the same playoff.

I understand "picking the best team" involves being subjective, but there has to be some sort of framework or parameters.

The committee has no idea what the hell they're doing.

That is solely because the humans are fricking idiots. They couldn't get over the mental block of dropping the undefeated reigning champ despite no indications on the field that they belonged.

For the third straight year, the committee has aligned with the Massey Composite of 100 rating systems. Nobody can come up with any comprehensive data suggesting that one of the top four shouldn't be so.

Anyone who disagrees likely hasn't done enough homework to prove his point.

Best.

Four.

Teams.

They've been pretty good at that.

Yep. People who disagree are either incapable or unwilling to put in the work required to comprehend these things. They mostly watch ESPN and get their ideas from there.
