I have been enjoying the beer a lot the last couple of months. Excellent. So soft. Juicy. Great pale ale. I'm aware there was a "revamp" of the old beer. Not sure when this took place.
Yesterday I picked up a six pack. All black can. It looked like this:
The six pack was dated 10/24/16. Poured. Drank. Immediately noticed this beer tasted different. Way more bitter. And dank.
Then i realized the beers that i had been enjoying were not from a completely black can. But a silver can with a black label (silver trim on top). Like this:
The beer i bought was obviously post-revamp yet was not the same as the latest awesomeness.
What gives? Are they making two different beers under the same name now?

First revamp was juicy AF then mid September dialed the hops back significantly because of costs. They've tinkered back toward a better beer but not close to the juiciness you experienced in early September. I had a couple last night and they were significantly better than October batches

My confusion is with the different cans.
I've had them before and after the date on this six pack.
What if someone stuck this date on old cans?![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)

Coater is correct. It's a shell of its former self now unfortunately. CC is still that hop juice though

Go with the date printed on the bottom of the cans. That's accurate

Always a solid beer, some batches better than others. One of my go to's.

They changed the can a few months ago is all.
The date on the old black cans is a drink BY date. So those black cans dated 10/24/16 meant is was canned 4 months prior.
The date on the new silver cans are the actual canned date.

Drink by date? What in the frick.
Posted on 12/2/16 at 6:16 pm to GregMaddux
Exactly. It was BS. They got their shite together and started putting the actual canned date when they changed the cans.

Almost purchased some 11/14 cans this afternoon but the past several batches have been so damn inconsistent I passed. Shame because it CAN be a very good beer.

Nothing wrong with a lil inconsistency. Even envie is fairly inconsistent but always worth buying

I've had three batches of DH, I think. First finished too bitter for me, next was awesome, and this most recent one is missing some serious juice, almost too mild.

I am drinking an 11/14 right now. It almost has an apple juice taste to it. Not digging it.

My fraternity brother works for them. If you are ever in Hattiesburg stop by a take a tour. Got trashed off their Crowd Control. Susie B is good too.

3 down votes. if you think envie is the same every batch, you're lying to yourself.
