I really hate this line of thinking. It is retarded. Of course we don't. No one does. The problem is that because of the uncertainties, institutions must take calculated risks when hiring a chief executive. Those calculations are made on the basis of resumes.
It is no more retarded than your line of thinking, because "calculated risks" made by "institutions" extend way beyond a simple resume. Why is that so hard for people to understand?
People act like the last coaching job Orgeron had was at Ole Miss 10 years ago. This is convenient for your narrative, because you don't like the hire. But as a matter of fact, since 2013 Orgeron is 11-4 as a head coach in two seasons at two of the premier schools in the country. You can't simply discount that achievement because it came with an "interim" tag - in fact, it should probably carry more weight due to the unique circumstances that come along with that challenge.
Does anyone know how this will play out? No, on that we can agree. But frame your argument that way, not "we're gonna shite all over him until he proves he can do it, then absolve ourselves of any accountability for being a complete dick to him from day one."
You know?

The old guard is back. The good ole boy network at its worst.
Saban was praised for eradicating it, and yet here we are again.
Firing O will be impossible if he fails. Saban was right.

I'm not anti O. I just wanted Alleva to do his F-ing J.O.B. and conduct a legitimate coaching search! Obviously I don't expect any ground shattering success from O but it is what it is. O is OUR coach for now and I'm going to support him the best I can.
One team, one fan base!

Since it isn't EXACTLY, PRECISELY what they want, they will cheer against the team until they get another new coach.
I despise them and you should, too.
no dumbfrick, see SFP's response. we had two months to search nationally and your boy, spineless coward from duke, joe alleva shite the bed.

Pro you're better than that, but I know you meant Alabama so I won't go there. LSU was not beating Alabama with the terrible play we have been getting from our offensive line. Blame Miles he recruited and ugh um... developed them I don't blame O. Florida is on O and the current staff I agree, they let the players get too emotional O even mentioned it after in an interview. That being said his recent accomplishments or data does not point to a terrible hire. I am on record that I wanted Herman or Jimbo, but I don't see the terrible hire that you and all these other college football experts see. I could be wrong but hey I'd rather see it play out on the field then spend my time being pissed of about it and jumping in every thread with negative barbs about the coach.

well i mean when your AD engages in the worst coaching search in modern history, throw a temper tantrum like a 15 year old girl, rushes a hire that didn't need to be rushed, and settles on a coach that has a terrible track record and literally no demand (While being a huge joke on this board for years), you're going to have some people get upset
BOOM!

O sucks and had a binder so you're not really taking much of a chance. It's an easy $10k for you. Seems like an easy financial decision. You're not going to make $10k with no risk many other places.

According to whom...you? Let's see your list of ten. Be forewarned, I will shite on your list like an elephant that ate an all you can eat Mexican buffet. Do it!

You're willing to put up that much money to bet that LSU loses less than 6 games over the next 2 years? That's brave
6 per season.

Everyone would take that bet, but I'm pretty sure he meant 6 combined losses over the next 2 years

Honestly, people are more concerned with how a guy "looks" than what he knows X's and O's wise. I made a post about this yesterday. A head coach just needs to speak well, recruit the bestm and convey his messages well. O cannot speak well, but is transparent. Les could not speak, nor convey well. Now, how is he that much better than O?
JFK won a presidency because he looked better and sounded more like he knew what he was doing than Nixon. Reagan was more hip than Carter and Mondale. He was still an actor from Illinois and California who just looked the part. If Coach O looked/spoke the part well, he'd be beloved. If he did not go to Ole Miss and do stupid Hummer commercials and lose a lot of games, he'd be AOK.
All that matters is:
a) Do his coordinators have an intellect that is just about unmatched? Can they do what Rich Rod did to UGA on NYD 2006? Can he do what Meyer did at UF? Cabn his D-coordinators put together a 2003 LSU-like scheme?
b) Can he talk in living rooms?
c) Can he beat Alabama/whoever the modern Lex Luthor is?
If O can make a happen, he's good. Still a joke? Yeah, right now. And yeah, we'd be laughing our asses off at Auburn had they hired him; however, he became our coach because of the despising of Les Miles from thousands. LSU beats Auburn...who knows?
But bottom line...we need O to look the part. If he starts '17 at 7-0 and ranked #2 in the USA, then all of a sudden his over the top Cajun-isms and past funny stories and parodies become the new thing. Les, for the most part, is very analogous to O. He is beloved for chewing grass, going 700 for 700 on 4th downs, and shouting "Have a great day!" at a media circus event. He certainly was not loved for his expertise. Thankfully, he had decent staff members.
