He's got all the money he can ever need. He can basically get a raise when he feels like he wants to use other schools as leverage. As much as I love the idea of Jimbo, I dont want to do this on a yearly basis.

I mean at a certain point do these crazy salaries really provide a different lifestyle?

If he gets a new deal from Florida State it makes sense. Otherwise, I don't buy it either. Who turns down $6.8 million...unless he just doesn't want to face Bama all the time. Good riddance if that is the case. Don't need a coach that is afraid to compete. If he wants the easy way out in the ACC, fine.

If it is true, good. We can move on now.

Fisher declines. The spotlights go away. Until after the FSU/UF game. Well played.

Well maybe he doesn't want to go through changing jobs. Also Dabo will be gone to Alabama when Saban retires.

From a lot of the info going around, the problem with the Fisher deal is that he wanted a longer contract than LSU was willing to give.

Jimbo's counter offer to LSU may have been about wanting a 10-year contract vs 5-year and perhaps also coaching staff stipulations. 10-year buyout would be HUGE. Then it would make sense for LSU to make a run at Herman -- to get ahead of UT with a tight window for Herman to accept a sure thing from LSU (vs UT) before Jimbo decides maybe he should take the 5-year offer. If Jimbo truly wants to come to LSU, that move by LSU might get Jimbo to take a 5-year deal.
