They didn't up his pay last year. I don't think Jimbo will leave FSU, they will certainly match what LSU will offer.

As far as $$$, I don't think they will offer what LSU will.

I don't think this about his salary to him. I believe the folks that are saying he's leveraging for things like more off the field paid staff and possibly an all inclusive football only facility. He may get a bump out of this but I highly doubt this is about salary.

The man will not flat out say he isn't interested. Whether he leaves or not, it's unprofessional to continually force your employer to up your pay based on outside offers.

Jimbo would be an idiot to come out an unequivocally say he's not interested. And he's not "forcing" his employer to raise his salary.

It's the free market that sets salaries. High demand for your services from others, at a higher salary, forces your current employer to decide whether to raise your pay to try to keep you. Very simple, actually.

Now if the FSU admin is tired of him and doesn't mind risking that he'll leave, they can keep his contract where it is. It's all very simple, actually.

But don't begrudge Jimbo (his agent, actually) for trying to turn this interest from LSU into a raise at FSU. It's leverage, and it's the free market.

If Jimbo gets a big raise to stay at FSU, then good for him.

The main argument would be why hasn't Fisher come out and said he is not coming to LSU and bury it right now.

I kind of agree. I think both are a big part of what gives us a shot here between what we can pay assistants and what we can offer as far as facilities.

FSU might be too worried about the rules and not understand there is a gray area lol

Maybe. I'm of course not talking about regular assistants, FSU already has an assistant salary pool in the top 10. FSU facilities were just upgraded in the last 18 months so they aren't lacking there either. A guy like Fisher will always want the newest thing out there. Don't fool yourself, if he walked into LSU today he would complain about your facilities and want them upgraded and ask for other things you may think are great right now, that's how he rolls. He's about as cutting edge as you will find short of Saban.

FWIW, I think it will be tough to pull him from FSU. He's already got a great set-up there and there's no doubt y'all will counter to keep him. I'm just saying LSU will lay it out on the line to get him.
