There ever been a failed presidential candidate serving in another's cabinet post-defeat?

is this rhetorical?

Edit: unless you mean a party nominee, in which case it's a fair question

yes it is...if trump ran on romneycare, he wouldn't be president

on a strategy level, why would you run a candidate who can't distinguish himself on what was one of if not the biggest issue of the election? how does that fricking happen

I get it, but we just won with a guy who donated money to and seemingly expressed support for his opponent. Plus, he probably used to be a Democrat.

i'd really like to hear arguments against Romney in those positions

and it's not even like Romney has this long history in DC
I have no objections to him serving in a trump administration. I had and still would enormous reservations about him as president. I don't know what trump's real view of free trade is, but I do think that republicans and libertarians are too dogmatic about it, and when you consider taxes and regulations it is even fricking worse.

Mayweather is going to be Special Envoy to Peaceful Protestors. Mike Tyson was up for it but he's been named to head the Soros outreach team. (It was either Mike or Gary Busey.)

what republican didn't?

that was my 2008 and 2012 autopsy. is that on some things, the left has won and we need to just move on (abortion, gay marriage)

republicans however moved to the left on my motherfricking money and were either hush about those irrelevant social issues or vehemently against it, but after 8 years of Obama there isn't a republican I wouldn't vote for in 2016...including Romney and Rubio. in other elections, I would have stayed home like I did in 04, 08 and 12.

that was a state-based program, right?

i don't see how using the states as experiments for different government is anti-GOP
when describing it I often say that Romneycare is ostensibly the same.

you have to get into a bunch of details that makes for poor marketing (that's what politics is and that's why trump is president) to the average guy sitting at home, there was no distinction. that's why I said "on a strategy level"

on a personal level, Romneycare didn't have the tax that wasn't a tax, but I don't give a frick about the distinction of state vs. federal. what he should have been saying is "we already regulate the piss out of the insurance industries, the solution is to tear down barriers not create more"

Romney was such an awful candidate.

I actually think this would be a great move...despite Romney's petty failed attempts to derail Trump, he still remains as one of the most private-public successfully people left in the party. He's not a huge DC insider either, I think it'd be a solid pick all around. Getting guys like Romney & Cruz on board could go a long way to making this a very successful first term.
