I love the 80s electronic noir style in music and tv/games.

I suppose Nightcall from Drive is a good modern example.

Also the work of Wendy Carlos in Clockwork and Tron was groundbreaking. She/he is worth a Google. Pretty interesting fellow/gal.

Worth noting that Halloween and Escape From New York were composed by the director John Carpenter.
