ESPN politicizing themselves out of business

This is unreal. They are using the NBA players protest platform to jump to full blown political discussions about how upset they are over the election. Smart move, just keep alienating yourself from your viewers. Keep losing subscribers. Good business.

would be nice - but usually only game in town

I read an interesting article about them recently. By 2020 they could be in the red. They are losing subscribers at a record rate and they have a lot of money tied up in these contracts with the NFL, SEC, NBA, MLB, etc.

I try my hardest not to watch ESPN. Other than college football and some college basketball, I won't watch. My viewership may mean very little to them, but the tide is turning. I hope they crash and burn in the near future and take the piss poor excuse of today's NFL with them.

I've been done with espn for a long time. unfortunately I am obligated to watch the network when there is a game I want to see but don't really tune in otherwise.
I used to watch 6:00 sportscenter every single day but I haven't watched half an episode in over a year.

When people only tune in for televised games and no other content, they will get hit hard

Been done with ESPN for a few years now.

Ditto, only thing I watch is CFB. May watch CBB if Bama is playing.

Who watches ESPN for anything but the games?
Who is so starved for entertainment that they watch the talking heads?

True. I used to love SC but now they've turned it into the E channel: talking about the off field dramas of athletes (like celebrities) more than on the field stuff like their actual performances in games.

I always thought $$$$ was the bottom line.
I've never seen a shift like this in the sports realm like the last 10 years.
How did the mandate become more important than $?
Does Disney make more money if we all agree with liberal policies?
ESPN's agenda is more open than NASCAR dudes promoting dipping the 80's.

Not for long if they keep that crap up. That's the beauty of the Free Market...bad product goes away.

I used to watch sports center multiple times a day (the same show that would repeat in the mornings). I would be able to keep up with the entire MLB, NBA etc. just by watching Sports Center because they would show highlights or scores of every game. Would update you on all the standings. It was actually sports news.
Now I don't watch unless there is a game on. I can read about the sports drama on tigerdroppings, don't need to hear them talk about it while only giving actual sports content on 2 or 3 teams from each sport.

It's past time that these media conglomerates learned that they can be replaced.

Disney needs to sell them off while they can still break even.
