He has won In convincing fashion. I don't know if you have been to any of the games but the atmosphere has been the best its been in years. The players are passionate when he is coaching. You get the feeling that they will run through a wall for him.

so.......get a top tier OC/DC and roll with it.
If I read this one more time I'm going to have an aneurysm. The most impressive coach thus far has been Ensminger. I'm not in support of keeping Orgeron at the moment, but people who think Orgeron can keep his job but we need a top OC have it backwards.

Fisher has stated he isn't coming here.
Herman has every reason to go to Texas...
so you have
Peterson... Fuente... Fleck....
I'm confused how these guys are any better than a guy who the players enjoy playing for.. and a guy who will still bring in top talent....

Right so why would fedora or fleck be an option if this effects 10+ years. Must want us to end up like Texas.
Both have won more games a Head Coaches than O. So if you think they would negatively affect the program for 10+ years, why the frick would you hire O?

Your telling me a guy like Juluke who is from New Orleans wouldn't have an advantage recruiting New Orleans over a guy from Ohio or something.

Yes I do believe he is better

I've been to all of the games and again you're being emotional about this. You think O is the only guy that can get this team to play with emotion? And let's be honest, he's played to two cupcakes and Ole Miss in a down year. I'd hardly call that a test.

there's a reason most of our best recruiters over the years have all been from Louisiana.

oh I'm sure he does
but I'm sure a new coach would try to retain guys like Juluke to maintain those local relationships

i have avoided as many of the "Coach O is or isnt the man for the job" threads as possible. its getting out of hand. its really quite simple, we need a recruiter who gets the most out of the players he recruits. its not about the next up and coming guy or the most highly sought after guy or even the guy with a winning history. we need a guy that gets the best players in the country to come here and then be able to make them perform as such. I , for one, think O is that guy. Just an opinion. give me your DV's now please....

LSU's not getting the 1st 2---& the last 2 ain't worth a POS.......So,---------who do you have as 5,6 & 7.....??

Well I'd hope so. That's really mostly what I'm worried about. I don't want a new guy to clean house.

I don't think a new coach would come in a clean house. They'd be stupid not to keep the entire defensive staff and Juluke and maybe Craig. The rest can go.

And they were under head coaches from Ohio and West Virginia.

Recruiting is one of the top considerations period. Not the only one, but as far as qualifying/disqualifying it's in there.
Maintaing the recruiting at this level with little drop (which so far seems to be the case) can prevent the +3yr drop off that most were wringing their hands about when firing Miles AND prevent the next coach (if good) from being in a bad position (Charlie Strong anyone).
So we got lucky basically (unlike Texas) where there's a chance to avoid that catastrophe where you spend millions and have all these expectations for a HC but no ballers on the field.
Part 1 of the transition was to get rid of Miles, Part 2 is in progress- win games and keep recruiting up (they are to a degree related). Part 3 is the next HC and his staff moves. So if the next guy is going to be a 'tear it all down' guy, and completely revamp the staff, we risk the situation we've already avoided once because this recruiting level is being maintained by this staff. Hell, just BDP, CEO, and Juluke represent some of the top recruiters nationally. Then add Ensminger and Aranda to that.
