Asians and gambling

I don't want this to come off as racist so let me explain- I live in about 30 miles from the Idaho panhandle (Spokane, WA) which is about the whitest, least diverse place in the country. You can drive around all day and not see a minority, especially Asians.
Yet, when I go to our small casino once a month or so, I see dozens of Asians (particularly Vietnamese) playing blackjack, craps and roulette. This isn't a once and awhile thing, either. It's every single time I go to the casino.
Further, my job carries me all over the country. In a given year I may be sent to 15-20 locations across the US for a week or so at a time. Often when I'm by myself in a new city I'll go play poker or hit the craps table and it's the same thing- Asians (again, Vietnamese in particular) are overwhelmingly represented. From big casinos in Vegas to Philadelphia to Florida to little casinos in Missouri, Asians are crowded around almost every table.
It's not like the sight of Asians bothers me but my curiosity is piqued. Has anyone else noticed this? If so, why do you think this phenomenon exist? Is there something in their culture that predisposes them to gambling?

well they are good at math... which should teach them gambling is a bad decision
but maybe they think their superior math skills will help them beat the casino...![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/icons/shrug.gif)

Macau is now the gambling capital of the world, ahead of Vegas.
Asians really really do love to gamble.

Dragon Poker. There's a whole area in L'Auberge I avoid like the plague.

I'll make a bet with you right now that you didn't see anyone in the casinos you frequented in FL

Cultural thing. Huge casinos over there on Macau. They are also heavily into numerology.

I have never seen this in the Colorado casinos. I'm not saying that you're wrong; my experience is just different.

I seen an Asian guy loose $12,000 on a roulette wheel in about 20 minutes. My wife was astounded he lost so much so quick. But yeah, casinos have lots of Asians and they always playing table games.
