Stuck choke tube
So a padnah has an after market extended choke tube stuck in an a400 (ya I know subtle a400 plug). Its a wood stock w/ blued barrel model. Any suggestions other than penetrating oil then heating the barrel (gently) to loosen? Dont want to mess up the bluing etc
Thx

Bring it to a gunsmith.

Knocker loose from the receiver end down the barrel to the choke. for about 2 days, 4 or 5 times a day. then warm it up in the stove with ambient heat instead of direct heat from a torch or flame. This will keep from messing up the bluing. then put some Channel Lock 420's on it while the barrel is cloth wrapped in a vice and still hot. Should turn right out.

Shoot it a few times to heat up the barrel.

Kroil oil and a heat gun should get her done

This little dude has helped me and a couple friends remove the gnarliest of stuck chokes. If you happen to be close any time soon, I'll loan it to you and even help get it out. (But I'm not mailing to Canada)
Basically, I soaked barrel tip upside down in a pill bottle of KROIL for a couple days. Wrapped barrel in a towel and stuck in a vice. Put breaker bar and big socket on the tool and put a couple hundred lbs of weight on it. Ease it out, but let the barrel cool as you go, so you don't twist it.
It works like a champ, but don't expect to use the old choke again. Also recommend some thread lube for the next one.
ETA: I had tried everything imaginable before buying it. It was my last resort. Some of the other techniques of freezing and/or heating did absolutely nothing for me. And I'm in no way related to Rick

Read the reviews at the bottom of that page. Many folks have had good experiences with it, some much easier than my own.

Liquid wrench.
Don't use WD-40 it will just gum it all up and you won't be able to move it (been there done that)

Xenon – thx for the link and info, sounds like some kroil, tapping/knocking the barrel, a vise w/ soft jaws and gentle heat is the way to go. I don’t think i need the stuck choke tool since its an extended choke it sticks out an inch+ from the barrel so if worse comes to worse we can always cinch down vise grips on the choke and gorilla .... the choke into submission. Just going to have to be patient and do it over a number of days.
Thx to all for advice, I will let you know how it goes.

Yeah. Extended gives you a few more options, but I couldn't get a good enough grab on mine with vice grips. If it's ported, you have even more options
FYI Kroil is worth every penny

Some info I found on interwebs about penetrating erls ... not sure if its true but interesting
Penetrating Oils Compared
Machinist's Workshop magazine actually tested penetrants for break
out torque on rusted nuts. Significant results! They arranged a subjective
test of all the popular penetrants with the control being the torque
required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment.
Penetrating oil .......... Average load
None ..................... 516 pounds
WD-40 .................... 238 pounds
PB Blaster ............... 214 pounds
Liquid Wrench ............ 127 pounds
Kano Kroil ............... 106 pounds
ATF-Acetone mix............ 53 pounds
The Automatic Transmission fluid (ATF)-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix
of 50 - 50 automatic
transmission fluid and acetone.
Note the "home brew" was better than any commercial product in this
one particular test. A local machinist group mixed up a batch and all now
use it with equally good results. Note also that "Liquid Wrench" is about
as good as "Kroil" for about 20% of the price.

If heat and some Kroil don't get it, then send it to Briley in Houston. They've done a couple stuck chokes for me and they can keep the factory threads. Also their prices are very reasonable when you consider you know 100% that they can get it out and save your barrel and factory threads

I did similar research when I was at the same place. Some other tests had Kroil and the homebrew similarly ranked. Kroil often has a special running on their website. I think I bought one can and got SiliKroil free with free shipping.
I had already tried the Liquid Wrench, PB Blaster and CLP without success and didn't want to fool with the mixing and storage or using it around heat.

I have on stuck, sent it to Jims Firearms but no luck. Xenon, u think your tool may work? I'm pretty much stuck buying a new and hard to find barrel at this time!

Choke out. Used all the suggestions. Knocking barrel. Liquid wrench. And heating barrel. It took a cpl of times but came out. The ext tube is scratched at bit from wrench but barrel fine.

Yes. I'm pretty confident in it.

Did you figure out why it got stuck? Was it rusted in or the threads messed up or what? Just curious?

same issue with mine. Bring to gunsmith, they will heat and cool barrel. gunsmith did it without discoloring the barrel. make sure you put choke grease on all your other chokes.

The automatic transmission fluid doesn't affect the bluing?
