into tank. there is a metal flap blocking the inlet and plastic tube from gas can wont open it. I know there is a simple solution but........frick

Find something to put in there that will hold the flap open. Coat hanger wire, stick, small piece of tubing..... Just don't drop it on where you cant get it back out.
New gas cans suck, you pretty much have to have a syphon hose or a funnel to be able to put gas in a car with them.

Sometimes and ink pin will work, don't drop it in the tank.

Look behind the passenger side back seat, should be a plastic funnel that came with truck just for that purpose
ETA, now that I think of it, it is actually behind the driver side back seat

Call your husband.
J/k I found out the hard way that every gas can needs a funnel. The funnel opens and holds open the metal fuel door down in the vehicle.

I cannot fathom how people run out of gas. Laziness? Not paying attention?

I've used a screw driver for this pain in the arse problem.

The newest gas cans suck. Now there's this weird slide thing you have to hold down or the plastic gas can won't work.
My vehicle was stolen, recovered with zero gas, and I had to get it to the body shop. Of course those idiots left me with no gas, so I had to buy a gas can and fill it up. I got gas all over me, and maybe 3/4 of it in the tank.
I was beyond pissed at my situation.

Thanks for the replies. I have had this truck two years and didn't know anything about having a special funnel.....finally found it....actually wasn't looking for it cause I didn't know it existed.
Was concentrating on my great weekend, and simply didn't notice my warning light. I now know now-a-days when a truck sputters from low gas you got about 50 feet to get to the side of road.........dont attempt a u-turn on a 2 lane blacktop ....just enough gas to get half way thru it...

Man, the time my low fuel light did not come on, I ran out of gas at the red light at I-220 and Airline Drive in Bossier, right a f'ing quitting time. Worst part was I was first in line at the light, too. Then, my OL is bringing me gas and spills half of it in the back of her Tahoe. What a party.

If its a Tahoe or Suburban and probably others you will be real pissed when you realize you have to put about 10 gallons in it to prime it back up to start after running out.

So you don't pay attention to the gauges?!

not a joke.,....special designed funnel, it won't take anything else.
Posted on 10/24/16 at 9:34 am to jeffsdad
I'm just saying-I've had three trucks now and have never seen this funnel

I was serious about the funnel suggestion, but I didn't have a clue that one would actually come with the truck
