In saying that, knowing what type of program this is and as fans of this team, who do you guys really want?

Me personally. Herman

If you pair an offensive minded coach that is very smart with his old buddy on the defensive side and has a chip on his shoulder and wants the opportunity to shine at a big time school then you go Herman.

If you want to go with someone who has been around and has been an experienced top 5 coach with an offensive mind then you go Fisher

If you want a guy that can fire up the players and put high paid assistants around him and he is a getting his "dream job" then you go with coach O

In all of this scenarios I could see Aranda staying along with Craig and Raymond.

Who do you guys really want?

Jimbo or Herman would be my 1a and 1b. If we miss on them I'd like to see O get a chance provided he continues to shock and amaze. On a short leash. 2 year contract with no buyout short leash. If he tanks we reopen the coaching search without worrying about a buyout. If he succeeds then we renew his contract. Doesn't get much simpler to me. I'll take the risk of a bad year or two in order to fully evaluate our options and make the absolute best hire possible.

Jimbo's stock is dropping fast. Thank god we didn't get him last year.

Herman does not excite me one bit. He should have two losses right now, plus he kisses his players on the face AND he's not a girl.

I want Orgeron as Head Coach, Aranda as defensive coordinator, and the best offensive coordinator consuming oxygen. The guy bleeds Louisiana, every player that has ever played for him will run through a brick wall for him, and he will have earned it after saving this football season. High energy is in the building and he's one of us.

Regardless who the coach is, LSU you needs to recruit and develop players to beat Bama. The west goes through Bama, do what ever you can to build strength, mental toughness and discipline like every game is against Bama... LSU will be back before you know it

Herman. There's a reason so many UT fans are freaking out that LSU is in the mix. This guy's ceiling is Saban-like. It's a gut feeling, but if we land Herman, Saban's trend starts to move downward.

We're at a crossroads in the program and the right/wrong hire could make or break us for the next 10 years. We could end up like USCw or Florida if the wrong hire is made. Or, we could end up like Ohio State with a boost in the program and a Natty to boot.

I don't think fans who have O as their preferred choice truly understand what is at stake here. As a fan base, we've been pretty spoiled the last 15 years or so. We had Saban, won a natty, then had Miles, won a natty and were a perennial top 10 team. Yea, the last 3 years have been rough, but they certainly haven't been Florida in the post Meyer age, or Texas in the post Brown age, or USCw in the post Carrol age.

This is way too big of a moment to waste on anything less than a homerun hire. Herman gives you that for sure. Jimbo is a close second. O might be a stand-up double...

It is a top 5 job, but it all depends on who you ask. Its not for everyone. You have to fact in the state of the SEC west right now.. You have Bama who dominates the west and you also have TA&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, which are not "gimme wins". The only thing close to a "gimme win" in the west is Miss St.. And LSU would have lost to them this year if they didn't fumble. For coaches who want a challenge it is perfect, but for a coach who might not want to risk success then it is not the best job.

Top 10 maybe, but not top 5 IMO.

Looking at recruiting, fan base, administration support, facilities, tradition, salary, academic reputation of the university, opportunity to win for a sustained period of time, etc I'd say these programs are better jobs right now than LSU:

Alabama
Ohio St
Michigan
Texas
USC
Florida

I'd put LSU in the next tier with Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida St, Tennessee, Penn St, Oregon, and Notre Dame
