Show me a team with a good defense that we've beaten. Our offense looked decent the first half of last year too didn't it?

Lol you're given LFs badassness to O and ensminger?

Many former NFL and college players who are analyst have said that the HC needs to be a good motivator, recruiter, hire good coordinators and let them coach and game plan. That's why miles won a lot without much offense. O would get the same top talent and with the current staff and a good OC hire no one would bring in a Better overall staff. Especially with Aranda as our DC. Good coaches let their asst's coach. Period.. O can do that. Like Seyhourn said who is a USC alum. He's the right fit. Don't name chase when u have a guy who reenergized a team like O has. He went on to say at USC he got the players to play together and play well, he brought energy and excitement and they name chased which was the wrong move. He thought O should've gotten the job. USC regretted not keepin O so much the next interim coach was kept.

I feel like there's a lot of assumptions here. We keep saying O will bring in a top OC. 1)Who would that be? 2) has this person motivation to leave their current job? 3) why wouldn't he give ensminger a one year contract? If O does well enough to get the HC job do you think he just fires Ensminger (since it's his offense that you pointed out O doesn't mettle in) 4) how do you know no one would bring in a better overall staff? I believe several people could bring in the same or better staff as O.

How do we know he can pick and hire a good OC? He's never done it.

bullshite man. Saban, meyer, and harbaugh are obviously the best coaches in college. And they are each micromanagers and keep thier thumbs squarely on their coordinators back. We need a good coach...not a pep squad leader. I want a guy that's not solely dependant on coordinators
Give me a tactitianer all day.

This is a serious question: does anyone know, currently, how many great head coaches or HC's in charge of great teams aren't a specialist on one side of the ball? I would be curious to see how often a "team manager" (aka not an x and o guy or specialist on either side of the ball) coach leads teams to championships.

Gordy or Hanagriff pointed out that Ensminger may not want to be a full time OC at this point in his career. He has job security as TE coach and a lot less time in the film room.

Fair enough. Who is available to replace him that would be considered a "knockout hire"?

There aren't any.
And you know this how? You can seriously say there aren't some lesser profile programs with some bright up and coming OCs that would be interested in coming to LSU?

O rested his injury instead of running him hurt like Less
Ensmiger is calling plays that get him into space instead of a 10 man box.
Fail.

Just for fun...
Top 20 coaches in the nation according to Foxsports
1. Saban - def genius
2. Meyer - off genius
3. Harbaugh - off genius
4. Petrino - off genius
5. C Petersen - off specialist
6. Swinney - nothing
7. David Shaw - off specialist
8. Dantonio - def specialist
9. Bob Stoops - def specialist
10. Gary Patterson - def genius
11. Mark Richt - off specialist
12. Herman - off genius
13. Kyle Whittingham - def specialist
14. Freeze - off specialist
15. Jimbo Fisher - off specialist
16. Sumlin - off specialist
17. Ken Niumatalololololol - off specialist
18. Bieliema - def specialist
19. Fleck - nothing ???
20. Brian Kelly - def specialist
So out of those 20, they were all either excellent coordinators OR ran their off/def while they were HCs at smaller schools...save Dabo and Fleck(i dont claim to be an expert on Fleck)

We know we have a ton of talent, we know O is winning with that talent..so far. We also know he may be able to retain the staff of Raymond, Craig and Aranda....this is pretty big and insures that recruiting stays at a high level.
I see no reason to not let him have the job if he continues to win, if the players stay energized and the recruiting class holds together thru bowl season.
He is fun to watch, his team is playing with a lot of energy and focus, and that is all I have ever wanted. To have fun and watch a team playing fast.

Would you say Ole Miss has a good offense right now? Good QB play as of late?
Well the co-offensive coordinator and QB coach is the same guy that Orgeron hired as his OC when he was the HC there.

nothing but truth spoken in this.
He only average 17.75 yds per carry, had his most yds in a game, set the LSU single game rushing record. All this coming off an ankle injury, out of shape, and not fully recovered.
I would say Coach O and Coach Ensminger can take a little credit for putting him in a position to exhibit his talents.
LF is one bad man no doubt.

It's things like this that people just wont give Orgeron credit for.

Hugh Freeze was Orgeron's TE coach, and was not an OC until 2010. But carry on...

Top 20 coaches in the nation according to Foxsports
Al Golden
Brady Hoke
Jerry Kill
Randy Edsall
Addazio
Shaw
David Shaw has been the only hire that has stuck.
These guys were coordinators too,
In you list, look at the tenure, it isn't like those guys are available with exception to Herman or Fisher...and shite, two years ago Miles was on that list too!
There are about 20 new coaches hired each year, the odds of getting one that will be in the Top 10 on any list of great coaches is damn slim. Especially since 1 and 2 are taken, and looks like Peterson, Swinner, and Petrino will cement themselves in there too.
