oh, we use Hoke to present the case for failure. However, We don't use Urban Meyer or Saban to present the case for success.
I agree with the point of your post, but feel the need to highlight that both Saban and Meyer went on to bigger programs before getting a prime time job.
And with Saban you could effectively argue he did it twice, as LSU was not prime time when he got there.
Are there any more recent examples of coaches that went straight from the MAC to a big time conference?

This is ridiculous. As if 2 years at Utah of all places made Meyer so much better. Both Meyer in 2004 and Fleck today have the same amount of experience as a HC.

So did Hoke, I think it proves going to another Job doesn't guarantee success.
I think what we do know is PJ turned around a terrible program. He built it from the ground up. He has his team doing unprecedented things. I think that in itself should be a sign you may want to talk to the guy.
You interview a Herman, Jimbo, a fleck or other people that have demonstrated success. If you interview these guys, one, lets use fleck since he's in question, comes in so prepared, presents a vision of what he will do with your program and how he is going to achieve those goals, then you hire the guy.
I'd hate to know PJ fleck goes to another program and becomes the star of stars in the coaching world and I decided, well, he coached at the mac didn't want to interview him. I think that is bad business/administration.
