quote:I don't get why everybody likes Jimbo. They play like two good teams per year, and he still plays with fire like Miles always did against inferior teams. His teams barely skate by against average teams, and then they lose games they shouldn't. EVERYBODY beat GT last year.. except FSU!
In less than 24 hours, we went from having our pick between Jimbo and Herman to talking ourselves into Coach Ed
Jameis made him look pretty good for a while.

Could lose em all as long as he beats Bama

If he loses 1 game, as long as it's not Bama, I think they'd give it to him.
Any more than that, no chance.

If orgeron is our HC next year, then all that would mean is that we struck out big time with other top candidates. Would be bad news for lsu

Probably because in the last 4 years they've played in three huge bowl games. The Orange, The BCS Championship, and then the Rose. Being 10-3 last year they had to settle for the Peach. 49-6 in that span. Pretty good recruiter. Good offensive mind. Knows the recruiting footprint. Knows how to recruit Florida.

quote:In the Orange Bowl year, they lost to an unranked 7-5 NC State team. They went 1-1 against the only two ranked teams they played, and that win was against an overrated Clemson team that went 0-2 against the only two ranked teams on their schedule. Clemson did beat LSU that year, but that's not saying much.

In the championship and Rose Bowl years, he had Winston. Can't say much about the championship year other than the schedule was on the soft side. The Rose Bowl year was also a soft schedule (sounds like a theme), and they still struggled against nearly every opponent.
And last year, same old shite. Soft schedule, 1-2 vs ranked teams.
I just don't see the appeal.

Yeah, I can see it if he wins all the other games but, say, drops at Arkansas game on the road the week after Bama.

Winning out and the SEC Championship game is the minimum to even have a chance.

I'd have to disagree with you, my man. Some universities (right or wrong) hire coaches that have ties to the program, whether it be former players that now coach or former long time assistants. USC does it. Michigan does it. Many others to name, but they do it so that the coach has an emotional bond to the school as well as financial motivation. Bebe may not be an lsu guy, but he's a Louisiana guy through and through and that makes him great lsu material. He bleeds p&g and he's a players coach. I think he's tailor made for LSU and think he will be a great ambassador for the state and it's flagship university. He has all of the positive qualities that Les had and hopefully he has the aggressiveness and fire that Miles lacked. If he beats bama and has a pretty decent run against the rest of the schedule I say give him the whistle for a few more years. Also give him a blank check for an offensive coordinator and a qb coach. Hate to say it, but we may need a new o line coach too.

Coach O's magic number is 1. That's the number of wins verses Bama he needs.
If his number of wins verses Bama is less than 1, then his number of regular season wins is likely 6 or 7.

He would have to atleast beat Ole Miss, Bama, Ark, and A&M to stay. Even then it's doubtful. I hope he stays on staff regardless who the next head coach is

Win the sec. Do so and the job is his anything less and he's gone
