Herman says at the end of the year, "I'm looking forward to reuniting with my old roommate Dave Aranda at LSU" and accepts the job. Two young energetic guys great at what they do.
The real question is,
How long do your pants stay off?

I'd have to put them back on before the first game next year or they probably wouldn't let me in the stadium

No matter who the new coach is you would think they would want Aranda to stick around. The guy is one of the most respected up and comers in the business. Honestly if a new coach didn't want to keep him it would throw up red flags to me unless he had a real good reason. Coaches that are successful long term don't play the buddy system shite they hire the right guy.

A friend of mine says Herman has a good reason to stay at Houston. He has a five million dollar bonus added to his contract if Houston gets to join one of the Big Five conferences while he is there.

Anyone else heard this?

He gets a 5 million bonus paid over two years if UH makes it into the Big XII. It will just cost us a bit more if he wants to come and UH is added to the Big XII

Yes. He gets $2.5 million a year for two years, then his salary goes back to $3 million. So he will make $5.5 million for two years. LSU could easily give him that for multiple years.

I don't see how any new coach doesn't want to keep Aranda, Austin Thomas, and O. Others can be replaced....those 3 imo are critical to the future success of LSU on and off and field

I put it to people this way. You're at a job making 40,000, but there is a small chance you'll be making 75,000 if a certain company buys you out. It isn't guaranteed by any stretch of the imagination. Another job offers you a guaranteed 80,000 for doing the same job you're doing now, and its a much better company.

Would you turn down a guaranteed double of your current income for a smaller increase that is far from guaranteed?

Because if we go after Herman we are going to double his current pay. We should be and will be swinging for the fences.

This. I don't think Houston gets in the Big 12. The expansion of the conference is about WAY more than just a good football team.
