Are Etling and Flynn planning on playing each other? No, so who cares who is better. Etling is here now and Flynn is at home counting his money.

Matt Flynn kept improving when he got out of college. Right now, based on a very small sample size for Etling, I think he's better than Flynn was in college.
Matt Flynn is overrated by most LSU fans because he won a championship. But that championship was won on the line of scrimmage - both sides of the ball. Flynn ended up good enough to be a borderline starter in the NFL, and that's VERY good, but a lot of that development came after he left LSU.

No, he did not either.
Just checking.

Flynn had a much stronger arm. Etling looks good, and is obviously better than Harris, but those high arcing passes with really long hang time are a problem that teams like Florida will exploit.

Lee's problem was In the chest.

I agree. People forget Flynn wasnt that great as a junior. Etling is using the whole field, and extending plays, making good decisions. If he can do the same against better competition and keeps improving, he'll be playing on sundays.

also here are flynn's 2007 natty run stats
wasnt crazy numbers he was able to direct our team to wins and didnt "lose" any games for us
Amazing, I did not remember the 2007 passing offense but the fact that we never had less than 19 attempts in a game is mind-blowing. And I think both the Miss State and S.Carolina game were rain games.
We were slinging it around all over the field.

Matt was good all 4 quarters.

But did those 7 receivers catch the ball after being hit with it? And he did this twice in 14 games, really impressive...

I also hope that Miles has some designed plays for Harris. I would like to see him included in game planning.
except that once he comes in the game everyone will know what play we're going to run. I don't object to Harris coming in but I do to having just a few plays for him.

First year under Crowton, Miles wasn't meddling in the offense. It was a pretty dynamic offense that as tough to defend. Flynn wasn't anything special but we put him in the right spots. Then 2008 happened and Miles basically neutered Crowton from that point.

It may be a little soon to anoint him the next Matt Flynn. Flynn did win a national title. I can definitely see the similarities. I think we'll know more when we see Ole Miss and Bama. I actually think LSU has a good chance of going into Ole Miss with only 1 loss.

It's all on Miles for not recruiting better QB's, he inherited Flynn and Russell, he got Mett because he booted out of UGA and he got Etling from Purdue.

Too early to make that call, but he reminds of Flynn a lot in his style, pocket presence, accuracy, and just the way he carries himself.
That's all we really need to have. Execute that offense last Saturday answer and we win by 4+ TDs.
The first TD was picture perfect and the best pass I've seen an LSU QB make since probably Mett

I am in agreement that Etling is better than Flynn, but it is not that Flynn was not that great as a Junior...more like he didn't get to play that much because of Jamarcus, however he lit up Miami in the bowl game.
In the comparison Etling vs Flynn, in Flynn's championship year he was a 5th year player at LSU, and this is Danny's 4th year.
