If this dude is in total shape by florida game where he can get a few more series a game then this Defense will be beast going into that Nov stretch.

NEED to keep bringing it vs AUB and onward. I especially like the alignment when you see Key, Godchaux, and Neal rushing...and Beck finds a gap to bring it. 4 ATH individuals for their size, and they are persistent going after the qb. Also nice to see Bower applying some pressure, and the big guy Valentine is starting to get a push in the middle too. He should continue to improve as he grasps his role in the D, and improves his game stamina. Overall DC is putting them in good positions to succeed, keep executing!

Team gets six sacks, poster complains we didn't get enough sacks.

Priceless.

Chavis defense overall was good that year, especially versus inferior teams.. but they did blow it in the losses.. whereas this defense has made plays when they absolutely need to.. especially in crunch time and gave the offense chances to win it..

Seems like more of a difference maker with this defense. Whether it's take away via INT, tfl, ff, and sacks.. They make game impacting plays. We seem to be lacking that..

I still think the front seven is lacking a little in depth, but it's heading in the right direction via recruiting now.. much better than where we were with recruiting lbs and de's

Not just that, but we had 13 pressures.

As Dellenger points out, LSU's DL got all that pressure, mostly, by themselves.

Aranda brought just 10 blitzes (8 LB, 2 CB)

The D did not get consistent pressure, not even close. Their qb had far too much time to find receivers.

That's the way it's supposed to be against typical dual threat QBs. They generally can't hurt you from the pocket. If you can rush four and gradually collapse the pocket in four seconds without losing containment you'll kill them. That's what LSU did.

State was 17 of 32 with six sacks. That means about 55% of their intended pass plays ended poorly. That is excellent defense!

I wonder if the people who downvoted you realize we were 2nd in the SEC in scoring defense in 2014, and 10th in 2015.

2015 was a very average defense, and 2014 was just bad! Your scoring defense statistics are meaningless because they were helped by our offensive philosophy of running the clock.

Good offenses embarrassed those defenses. Arkansas, Bama, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State all had their way with those defenses in one or both of those years. That is not the sign of a good defense no matter what the stats say.

When Valentine draws a double team, it puts Key, Neal, and Godchaux in one on one match ups. That's a big advantage because you know one of those players will beat their man.
