You ever heard of a guy named jack

There used to be a slight built in advantage to taking the ACT early. For instance, if a junior and senior got the same number of correct answers, the junior would make a higher score. I don't know if that still applies. I took it as a junior and made high enough that I didn't need to take it again (slight brag)
Not anymore in the Duke ACT program

My entire school took either the ACT or SAY in 7th grade doesn't mean shite.
I got invited to the ceremony in Natchitoches.

Mine took it 2 years ago in 7th and scored high enough to get into LSU.

I think it is a money making scheme....unless your kid scores in the 99th percentile on standardized tests.

Good for your daughter. You have a smart one on your hands. I took it in 7th grade and made a 22. When I was a junior I made a 31. Still didn't impress Univeristy of Texas when I met with an admissions counselor who told me "UT is more of a Texas thing. We don't take many out of staters."

False. My mom spits.

My daughter's friend scored in high 20's on ACT in 7th grade. By 11th grade she got into meth and BBC. Today, she is in some institution in Atlanta. Be careful what you wish for.

I did this. Sponsored by Duke. I got a 20 and lifelong fandom of Duke basketball. That's about all that came of it.
Another kid in my class scored a 24. I am pretty sure that was higher than what he got in HS, though.

What was her 11th grade ACT score, though?

Georgia Tech is pretty impressive.

That's true. She does live in Atlanta now so things did take a bad turn for her.

I took it in 7th grade along with one of my friends. We both scored higher than his sister who was a Senior.

If this is the Duke invite, than I disagree. I did this in 7th grade as well. Did better in 7th grade than most did in high school.
Let her do it, good experience. Corny as it may sound, it will look good on her first resume. When trying to land that first job, any and all experiences help. After she has experience, this will obviously not be important, but again - everything helps when all you have is a piece of paper and no experience.
I would imagine if you take a look at everyone who is invited to this event, you are probably looking at a precursor for a decent chance at success. Obviously nothing is guaranteed and there is still a lifetime to go.
Still, congrats to you and your daughter. Being first is never a bad thing, although it can get lonely!

I did this in 7th grade. Got an 18

I got an 18 as well which is good enough for Mississippi schools

There are probably some benefits like potentially going to Duke or going to the state ceremony or whatever but literally the best thing that came of doing the TIP thing for me has been telling idiots on the internet that I scored higher than them on the ACT when I was 12.
So, basically, well worth it.

My three kids all got invited and took it. It's actually a money making thing. Congrats.
