Per Ross Dellenger:
QB recruiting under Les Miles (first 11 yrs):
Signed: 16
Finished at LSU as QB: 3
Never played a down: 7
Left/never arrived: 10

Since most schools have 4 or so on the roster at any time, I would think this is pretty typical...

Looks bad? No context or comparisons make me unsure.
Eta: what does the second one mean? Finished at lsu as QB?

From the article
So we're below average, but not completely out of the norm
quote:
Quarterback attrition is a nationwide issue, too. The Tuscaloosa News this year published a study finding that 37.2 percent of the 121 quarterbacks who signed with Southeastern Conference teams in the previous 10 classes finished their career at the school where they signed. LSU’s number is 23 percent (three of 13 players who have exhausted their eligibility).
So we're below average, but not completely out of the norm

You want to see something really nasty? Check out our o-line & LB recruiting from 2011-2014. An extraordinary attrition rate.

Miles definitely has recruited some quarterbacks that have just not been very good at all even when they went on to other schools. Needs to evaluate better. Gunner Kiel was supposed to be our Savior and he can't start at Cincinnati. Russell Shepard moved to wr. Stephen rivers couldn't play at vandy. Etc

Rettig hasn't played much at all at Rutgers and Randall wasn't much but a running QB at Arizona.
Jennings does seem like he'll do well at ULL though, so at least that's something.

Recruits Dak Prescott as a TE, tears it up at QB for Miss. State. WTF

I'm not a numbers person, so forgive my math but I'm confused:
If he signed 16, and 3 only played, that leaves 13.
Of that 13, only 7 never played a down, that leaves 6.
Yet 10 either left or never arrived?
That is -4 in my book unless I'm comparing apples and oranges to which might be the case.
RS for example, was used as WR but recruited as QB, JJ started but transferred. Those are 2. I'm probably missing some, but the numbers don't make sense, which is why I'm not much into stats.
Now, I'm an anti-Miles from way back, but Dellinger's numbers are not adding up.
Shitty QB play, recruitment, development, yes I see that and wish Miles the best on his future endeavors, but these numbers have me puzzled.
Not trying to flame or trolling, if a numbers person can "splaine" it to an old dog who learned mathematics in the 1970's, I would "preciate" it. Hell I could use those stats in another rant later on should the need arise.

Some of them could be in both of the last categories. They could have been on the team, never played a down, then left. So they would be placed in both.

Dak finished strong, was totally lost for 2 1/2 years. That production equals transfer from LSU

What he said. The last 2 categories are not mutually exclusive.

Dak had a want to play TE!

Here is the full article: LINK

Cameron “develops” each type of quarterback “separately,” the ex-player said, and Miles handcuffs quarterbacks when it comes to scampering out of the pocket — even in practice.
“Coach Miles is not a fan of making it up as you go,” the player said. “If a QB wanted to make a play with his feet, even in practice, Miles is not happy. That goes back to the failure to adapt to the new way. Why is he bringing in the dual threat if he’s not going to let them be ‘dual threat?' "

Superb article, thanks for sharing. Sure we have had a little bad luck, but our qb recruiting and thereafter development/preparation is woeful. Stats don't lie. With that said it was exciting watching Etling work last week, and I look fwd to seeing what he can do Sat night with LF behind him. GT!

Ya, it's typical for 3 out of 16 to finish at the position you recruited them for, in 11 years. Are you insane? That's terrible
Posted on 9/16/16 at 7:11 am to OldManRiver
23 compared to 37 is very well below even avg..

I think you're looking at the wrong stat line. 10 QB's not showing up or leaving is pretty insane.
