I have owned Chevy, Ford and Toyota.
Toyota is the best one I have ever owned, Ford next. Do not buy from Supreme Toyota in Hammond.

I have 192000 miles on my 08 Tundra--never put a wrench on it except brake shoes and the 130K tune up.
I didn't even change the battery until about 6 months ago.
I get 16-17 MPG. I drive mostly highway.
I have put 2000 LBs loads on it four of five times and did fine. You wouldn't want to go 70mph with that much weight in it but if you take it easy it can handle it fine.
It pulls my boat with a dual axle trailer like there is nothing behind it.

Drive all of them. Literally all of them. Drive every one that you think you may want, even a little. Only start to narrow it down after that.

F150's have always served me well. Driving a 2015 now. Love it. Liked the look of the Tundra but friends of mine who own them only getting 16 mpg. Guzzlers. I'm driving a 5.0 and getting 22 mpg avg.

I have an 06 Tundra and only had to replace tires a battery and brake pads. It's not just the engine reliability, it's the reliability of the electronics and components non engine parts, etc.
i have owned Fords before this truck and while I didn't have a lot of engine trouble, lots of little things would break over time...
Window and mirror motors and displays on the dash, hinges on compartments would break, etc... Every little thing on my Tundra works exactly the way it did when I bought it. And then engine hasn't given me a single lick of trouble in 10 years. Nothing. And I have put that truck through hell and haven't even been super religious about maintenance.
My wife had an 04 Camry that we traded in 14. It also never spend a day in the shop.
20 years of Toytotas, zero problems.
I have two buddies who have fords and are always having trouble with electronics, etc..

My bro was able to pick up a 16' Tundra TSS with the offroad package for 40K. 5K off sticker.
I was close to pulling the trigger myself on a Tundra, but got turned off by the 13/18 mpg. I see the online database showing most owners getting 14ish mpg.
While that doesn't break the bank for me, I just dont like the idea of 5-10yrs from now having a truck that gets 13mpg.

Get an old Tacoma with around 100k and a fresh tuneup. That's all.

Guys driving full size trucks complaining about mpg, sad.

I got a question Coach---
How do I spec out a Tundra like this--leather seat but vinyl or rubber floor instead of carpet, back up camera, blue tooth, no navigation, very little chrome, no fancy interior trim? maybe 4wd.
The premium and 1785 or whatever trim is way too fancy for me but I am tired of cloth seats and I want the backup camera and blue tooth for safety reasons. XM too.
That is a little more than SR5 it seems. I hate too much chrome. I wish all the manufacturers would offer something besides carpet in the floor board. I want darn good tires from the get go too---Michelin LTX or Pirelli scorpion.
I may buy one when I get 250K or so on my current truck--sometime late next year I suspect or early 18.

there are some aftermarket companies that do a really good job on leather seats for a good price. just buy the truck that fits closest and do the camera seats and BT aftermarket.

Test drive them all and buy the one you like the best.
You are the one paying the note and have to live with your decision.

Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are sh*t. Anything else is a win.

I like the look of the new Titans. Plus it has a Cummins!
