ok so maybe...because RR stated in his resignation letter that his last day is jan 3. it may get him out of his 4 mil. buyout.

LINK

as it states, he cannot be reassigned so they may have to fire him as to not have him coach the bowl game...thoughts?

That would be kind of chickenshit on his part. Michigan wanted him and they need to step up to the plate and pay the smaller school.

I would make him prepare the team and coach the bowl game. There is NO way I would let him off that easy.

I do think he should have to pay whatever his original agreement was before his new contract last year, with all he was told his program would get and then it didn't happen I don't blame him for not wanting to pay the 4 mil...i think it was at 2 mil.. pay that then move on....

well if you want him to live up to his end of the contract then they should have lived up to theirs and at least broke ground on the new academics building. Can't have it both ways.

good, while I do not like guys like Saban and Petrino and what they have done, I just see RR a bit different. WVU made promises they had no intention of coming through on.

Exactly what promises did WVU not fulfill. Does anyone have a link? I heard on ESPN college football live it was small things like charging high school coaches $5 to get in to the games and having to ask permission for a sideline pass for his wife. That sounds very petty to me.

It is a shame that this is going to get so ugly.

You can;t turn down a job as the head coach at Michigan if you are a football coach, it's just that simple. That would be like a local Judge turning down the opportunity to be appointed to the Supreme Court by the President. who would do that. Michigan is a HUGE job. It doesn't get any bigger than being the HC at Michigan. The guy was in a tough spot.

I'm not sure where you are getting the massive expansion of the facilities part of his contract.

If you read the ESPN article which quotes RR's own attorney, the things they did not do were fairly minor.

RR's attorney mentioned nothing about expansion of facilities.

I'm sorry but what RR is doing is almost worse or equal to Petrino.

He wanted a better job so he is trying to weasel his way out of the buyout.

And if he was using his team and playing the bowl game to try and force them to fire him, then he is a piece of crap!

I saw something sbout the president used funds meant for the football team/facility/whatever on something else when this mess all started.

Havent heard anything else about it cept them saying there was other things being complained about.

Why doesn't UM pay the buyout. Seems to me they should have the money or the alums.

RR and WVU admin agreed on date. Now RR will be able to recruit and attend mich practices and WVU can hire a new coach. It is only a guess, but I bet they came to an agreement on the buyout. Word is the only reason the date was the 3rd was RR hadn't talked to WVU face to face about coaching the bowl game, he made reference to this in his press conference at michigan.

TigerMyth,

Here's the link. The agreement to improve facilities was part of the agreement made in June 2006 (before the Alabama flirtation). It has not been started. If they start that, let high school coaches in free and give an extra $100K for assistants he stays. But if they had not started the facilities improvements over an 18 month period can you really blame him for leaving?
