shite, AT&T does it too. I had 20 gb per month and I only surfed the net. No streaming, no music, and they would still tell me I was going over my data limit. Impossibru
Probably some background Applications that you need to turn off.
I had the same issue even getting high data usage during hours when I was sleeping( according to AT& t customer service.
Tech board may be more specific .

I'll continue to stick the often bashed, horrible network that is referred to as Sprint.
Never any overages. Never any throttling. And it works for me wherever I need it most.
Ditto.

Yea I found that snapchat, which I barely use, was devouring my data. You turn apps like that off and it will help though verizon is tGOAT when it comes to sneaky fees

I know I'm probably wrong .. But I'll throw it out there .. In June this year Netflix was throttling there service to Verizon and att. They said in July they would be doing away with that practice in July .. Could that be some of the reason and people not being aware of the changes..
The flip phone deal I have zero explanation for.

I have 6 phones and this happened to me for the first time in many years. I had put limits on all of the phones using Family Base and when I called Verizon they said I did not have any limits. They checked my history and saw that I had not gone over in many years but they could not see that I ever had any limits put on each phone. I had to go back on line and reset the limits again for each phone and they said I would not be charged for the overage.

I saw a Verizon ad the other day and it said you get 20GB of unlimited data.
Wut?
How can it be unlimited if you only get 20GB?

Just remembered something.....they asked me to check my data usage on my phone for every billing cycle that I supposedly went over. Their data totals were 2-3.5x more than what my phone recorded.
After me bitching, they matched up exactly

3.77 gigabits per second means you'll use up 2 gigabytes of data in about 5 seconds.
I'm hoping someone corrected you on this prior to me, but just in case they didn't.

3.77 * 5 = 18.85 Gigabits in 5 seconds
18.85 / 8 = 2.36 Gigabytes (not accounting for overhead)

where's the mistake?
2 gigabytes = 16 gigabits
16 gigabits/ 3.77 gigabits per second = 4.24 seconds
2 gigabytes = 16 gigabits
16 gigabits/ 3.77 gigabits per second = 4.24 seconds

Damn. I have unlimited with AT&T and was in verizon store today to talk about switching. My typical usage was 4-5 GB.
Hmm what to do.

Hate over limit fees. Which is why I avoid those companies.
