I prefer Range Life. I like Cut Your Hair, but I get sick of hearing it sometimes.

Neither are my favorites, but I'll go with Range Life. From CR, CR... I'll take Gold Soundz. But I'm a Slanted and Enchanted or Brighten the Corners man, myself.

Both are good songs.....and simple to play on the guitar for a hack like me. But they aren't their best songs.

range life, but pretty much every song on slanted and enchanted is better than anything on CR CR. Slanted and enchanted is def one of the best indie rock records of all time.

Well, since Shady Lane exists, it is impossible for Cut Your Hair to be their best song.

Saw them at Howlin Wolf on the Crooked Rain tour that year. They sounded fantastic; much better than the Brighten The Corners show at the Varsity IMO. I remember that it was shortly after Cobain checked out and Malkmus made a slightly glib remark about that and it kind of didn't go over well with the crowd. I got to meet and talk for a while with Ibold and Nastanovich (sp?). They were great guys.

Also, I think "Silence Kid" is my song off that one. Even though they kinda rip off Buddy Holly in it.

It's truly amazing how often you pick great bands, yet the wrong songs

i was at that show! Although I thought that shows was just meh. I saw them on slanted and enchanted tour in houston and it was also meh.

I just don't think their sound translates that well. I saw their reunion tour, and it was alright, but it was a festival set so its a little blurry.

eta: trigger cut was always my favorite track

The only thing that bummed me out was that I would have rather have seen them with Gary Young on drums. I know he was hit and miss but I liked his playing style better than West. Plus I know he was kind of batshit crazy and that works better for me too.

a good drummer makes all the difference for a show's energy level IMHO.

pound for pound... Watery, Domestic is their best output!

Box Elder may be their best song...

edit: and Silver Jews "Starlite Walker" may be the best non-pavement, pavement record!

the glory years of indie rock!

I've really been liking Malkmus' solo stuff/ Kicks stuff.
