People also thought stupid shite about horseless buggies, and refused to move past a horse as a mode of transpertation.

the biggest problem with cars today is the driver. People don't all follow the rules, maintain speed, know how to slow down without hitting their brakes on the interstate causing a cascading effect or use the correct lane. In theory driverless cars would eliminate traffic caused by idiot drivers.

Today on I 12 this guy kept trying to change lanes and got no where. Said frick it and went on the rt shoulder and passed everyone up, dude was def going 90+.

One aspect that seems to be overlooked is the fact that it will greatly reduce the need for multi car households.

Rather than having a car tied up just sitting in the parking lot, it could drop off one and move on to the next destination, driving itself home when the car is empty only to be recalled later

The worst part of transportation is a-hole drivers or distracted drivers. Driverless cars goes a long way to eliminate both.

I'm assuming the cars will work off of gps. Is your gps always 100% accurate?

Explain the safety part.

All cars are on a network and can "communicate" with one another. Imagine no longer having to come to a stop at an intersection, but simply slowing down to allow a car from cross traffic to pass in front of you. Your car then speeds back up and proceeds through the intersection.

Car accidents are one of the leading causes of injury and death in our country, and yet people take that for granted as they text and drive. Pretty much all accidents are a direct result of human error. With driver-less cars, we can completely eliminate that factor.

Since I drive at least 5 mph over the speed limit I always drive in the FAST LANE.

I like the idea that you could then rent out the services of your car the rest of the day while you are not using it.

No divers.

You ever spend any amount of time on the road? The fricking idiots behind the wheel are the cause of 99% of vehicle accidents.

Don't google that statistic because I made it up, but my point still stands.

Not sure if we'll get enough of them by 12/31/19 to make a big difference, but driverless cars will be the most transformative innovation of the next decade. It will cause us to totally reshape the in-car experience of being on the road.

Dude its kind of obvious they won't work off of GPS unless every person, pole, curb, dog, cat, ball etc in the world also had GPS in it

It won't have to because traffic would flow at a reasonable speed.
