I decided after picking up leaves in the yard(yes, I still think Fall is right around the corner)and getting the Keg going for grilling I decided to crack open a Bayou Bengal Lager. This popped into my head.... Does anyone remember your dad or Grandpa putting salt on the rim of a can of beer? I remember my dad and uncles as well as other men in the neighborhood putting salt on the rim of their beer (mostly the cans you had to actually use a can opener). I don't know if it was to mellow out the harshness of the beers they had back then(Falstaff, Schlitz, Dixie...especially or Jax, occaisionally they would make their own beer but that was bottled)or to make them more thirsty for more beer.

Between beatings my dad used to cut his cocaine with baking soda. He was a good Christian man though and was against alcohol.

Yeah, sometimes he did but not anymore. My brother and I used to grab one out of the Igloo and try it out.

The salt is to make crap beer drinkable. We use to salt our Fosters Light when they sold it at the grocery by LSU for $6 a case. That stuff was barely drinkable but you couldn't beat the price.

I've seen people put salt all over a bottle of corona. Licking them grosses me out.

The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

Yeah. I've seen older guys salt IPA before to "fix it" enough to drink.

True story;

I have been known to dab a little pinch of crawfish boil on the edge of my Miller Lite, while doing a boil.
